Good scrap......thought Agger did well to remain calm when he was getting shoved about....sly dig from Stevie.......Pepe drags him away.....

One thing's for sure, we'll have to play better than that at Villa Park on Saturday. The first half was very reminicent of last season away from home. No drive, no flair and absolutely no immagionation. I hope we address that this season. I don't know why we don't play a more dynamic game away from home because what we do hasn't served us that well on the road in the last 3 years. At home we're fine but we really need to start putting teams to the sword when we're on the road.

The season's no to far away now so lets hope we're ready.

I know, mate. It's only pre-season afterall. I was just comparing that performance to the ones we've seen so often away from home in recent years.

i`m hoping tonights game was not an example of how we`ll play next season.Hope Rafa was throwing O`Neill a curve ball.Villa learnt nothing of our possible formation and o`Neill will be as confused as the rest of us about next weeks formation/tactics.

My thoughts were that, despite me being a kewell fan, he has lost any pace he once had and as such is no longer any good...****ing zenden all over again. We still lack the creativity we desperately need and Kuyt doesnt seem to be the striker I hoped he was.
So, in my opinion, we need to play babel on the left week in week out, buy another right winger and hope that stevie never ever gets injured. Oh, and play Torres plus 1 (but not kuyt).

Negative, kinda.....but I am hopeful that when the real season starts we can find some form and ****ing get in there!!

I am still very hopeful for the season ahead!

Quinncy - if any player should be flying this pre-season its Harry.....he has played the mikeymouse cup for Australia and said himself he is as fit as he has ever been in a red shirt.....it just doesnt seem good enough. I ****ing hope to god that he, along with Kuyt & Pennant, prove me wrong...but at the minute those are the 3 I dont think will cut it. Time will tell.

Love to see Gerrard angry and violent like that

Thought Babel looked lively when he came on.
Decent overall performance but it's the same old story in terms of creating chances i'm afraid, need more of a cutting edge up there but i'm not panicking just yet.
Ps That Drente ****** needs a good kicking.

If we don't hammer Villa next Saturday I fear there will be loads of Jack Hobbs demanding "RAFA OUT" on here and 606...

After that game, who do you think 'deserves' to start against Villa

                              I'd go for:

                              Reina
Finnan Carra Agger Riise/Arbeloa (Insua too inexperieced)

                              Pennant Gerrard Alonso Benayoun

                              Torres ???

Not sure whether to play 2 new strikers away from home on their premier league debuts. Kuyt has been dissapointing while Crouch has looked sluggish.
