It was a correct penalty last week. Carra didn't had his arm or hand anywere close to his body so it doesn't matter if it was deliberate or not.

FIFA Law 12 says "a direct free kick (or penalty) shall be awarded if a player handles the ball deliberately"

The position of ones arm is irrelevant if there is no deliberate movement towards the ball.

Hansen highlighted on MOTD2 that when Styles riases his hands for the second caution where Essien is standing next to him, Styles points at Terry (who is miles away) to indicate that the yellow card was for him. That being the case he had already awarded Terry a yellow before the melee had begun, so is it the case that it was Terry who got 2 yellows?

Either way, it is clear the guy lost his head. Shouldn't ref in the Premier again IMO.

Essien should have got a seconnd yellow anyway. Pennant got a yellow for arguing with ref, Carra also did for arguing about the penalty. Essien comes and stands in the way of the freekick and starts arguing, he should also be booked.

Not only was it not a penalty - but it should have been a foul on Finnan. Malouda jumped at him.

Thats exactly what i saw. It was done deliberately as well. If this is what we can expect from the Chav pricks circa 07/08 i hope the refs and the media wise up to it.

He ****ing KNEW he'd ****ed up after he made the decision as well, hence why everything went our way for the next ten mins before he tried to make up for that as well and give everything to the chavs

To be fair as people tend to say, decisions will even themselves out as the season progresses. It was only last week Villa were robbed with the freekick decision.

That's just a bollocks phrase with no real reason to it though Marcus. The chances of things evening themselves out are in fact incredibly slim.
