agreed drogba was **** today...so does that make kuyts performance acceptable. i dont see the connection at all

It's not Kuyts fault that Rafa plays him out of position is it?

He will do the work Rafa tells him to do but we have other players that can do his work in a better way and then he could play as a striker instead.

I think Kuyt should stay but it's sad to see that he won't be able to give his best because he is played out of position.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

The question has got to be is Kuyt being asked to play like an attacking midfielder? If so then surely it is Rafa's fault, square pegs and round holes. If its an attacking midfielder he wants who can score goals then he should play Babel.

I'd like to see Kuyt right up top, don't worry about the midfielder, go cause havoc in the opposition box.
        We come not to play.

I personally would have started with both today. Was shocked that he didn't even make the bench.

As far as I'm aware this IS his position? He did the same for Feyenoord, no? It appears to be in his make up to go chasing/harrying. It's natural to him. He's absolutely not a natural, instinctive goalscorer.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I wasn't talking about other players. I wasn't comparing him to other players. If you want a comparison then Kuyt scored more in his first season that Henry did. See...any comparison can be made to aid an argument. Kuyt is a typical Rafa player. Fortunately for us Rafa doesn't have an agenda, and thus picks Kuyt for what he brings to the team.

He played higher up the pitch for Feyenoord and made more runs into the box. He scored a lot of headers for them.

If Rafa thinks Kuyt can pull strings like Aimar did at Valencia then he's having a laugh

He needs to get in the box more. At times today, Torres was in the box by himself, what is he doing? Curling his hair?, having a fag?

But on more than one occasion, his 1st touch was poor today when a solid rentin of poossession would have put us in a dangerous position. I like Dirk, but his 1st touch WAS off today. But there were plenty of other things in his game to be happy with.
Yep and people are also ignoring the fact that he (and also Nando) never gave Ben Haim or Terry any free time on the ball, plus they also chased down Mikel. There were definite tactics there. However, sticking him on the right wing was pretty pointless to me and as Shaggy points out, sadly he just never looks all that threatening. He gets the ball, shapes to shoot and you almost expect the ball to fly just wide/over, everyone goes 'ooh' and it's a goal kick...

Rafa wouldn't keep playing him if he didn't do what he is told to do.

I thought Kuyt had a decent game. Not brilliant, but not dreadful, Torres and he look to be developing a good understanding, and his performance certainly was not the crucial talking point of the game. Were it not for the worst referee we've had at Anfield in years, we would have convincingly beaten the most expensively assembled team in history, and many people's favourites for the title. Kuyt does need to improve certain aspects of his game, but can you not see there is something a bit warped for him to be your instant target after this game, once again?
