Ayesteran has had full control over the training and preparation of the squad and there were alterations made during pre-season which led to the disagreements.

Think this is the key bit. These changes have been for the good as well.

I imagine some of the innovative coaches that say Alladyce has taken from other sports might be a good move in terms of the fitness. I don't think we have to look to make a one for one replacement necessarily.

Well that really was another bolt out of the blue! Absolutely huge surprise, and a sad day for LFC. Im sure Rafa must know what he is doing though and hopefully we will bring in someone even better. Rafa does seem to demand total control over all areas of the club and it appears that's what caused the dispute. I cant wait to see what Rafa has to say about the whole incident.

Thats a fair enough point, i just said Spain as i would think Rafa knows more about that market and people in that line of job from there.

Well Rafa's certainly on one this season! Must admit when i checked in this morning i doubted the original source but as it turns out one of these summer scare mongering stories turned out to be true.

If the source of the disagreement is the fact Rafa altered Pako's training regime in pre-season then it's clearly worked as we've had the best start under Rafa, also surely as overall manager Rafa has the right to change pre-season training as he sees fit? Perhaps Pako is embarassed because Rafa's techniques have worked better than his!?!

As much as Pako is respected and seems a top, top coach - Rafa is THE MAN. He's the manager, the one we all trust, and if Pako can't handle or doesn't agree with Rafa's changes then it's "thanks for your hard work and goodbye".

Whatever changes Rafa made to our pre-season this year has clearly worked (so far, at least). Onwards.

I've seen interviews with Rafa and players over the summer that have mentioned this in passing, and I would imagine that Paco would be pissed off at people (even Rafa) claiming to know better than him what is the best pre-season programme for the players?

Well, we changed our normal pre-season training this season and didn't train as hard as we used to do. I wonder if that is the sticking point and that Pako wanted the team to train harder but Rafa overruled him.

We'll find out towards the end of the season whether we have sacrificed our late surge for a bit more balance. We've certainly had the fittest squad towards the end of the season for the last couple of years, whether through Paco's regimes or Rafa's rotation and resting policy...
