thought the stadium announcer was hilarious. Halfway through the 1st half usual announcement ref kids at the back, sit down etc. Then in the second half comes on and thanks everyone for their response to the earlier request - as usual nobody had sat down!
TBH they must have expected this when they created the 1892 section
'Of course I didn't take my wife to see Rochdale as an anniversary present.
It was her birthday.
Would I have got married during the football season ?
Anyway, it was Rochdale reserves.'
I remember sitting in the furthest row back in the Centenary and being told throughout the game to sit down by the stewards. I dont really see the problem, it's not like you're obstructing anyone's view.

Happened to my brother and me about 2 years ago for a champion’s league game, right at the back of the upper centenary near the Anfield road End. Ridiculous if you ask me.

Rules are rules
"Let me say for the record, I am not a gangster and never have been. Im not the thief who grabs your purse. Im not the guy who jacks your car. Im not down with the people who steal and hurt others. Im just a brother who fight back."

It's about safety certificates as much as anything else.
The safety certificates are bollocks though mate, we all know that.
We're 'allowed' to stand at some aways but not others. We're allowed to stand on European nights, but not others, It's 'safe' to stand up when we've scored a goal, for a corner, or at half time, but not during play.
It's all bollocks. Safe standing areas are the only way forward.
Those "safe standing" area's look like they offer more space than the seats on the kop.
The law states we are to sit down and it is to be seated so the club have to honour that. Do you remember a few year ago when Trafford council were threatening old toilet with removing it's certificate so they would be unable to have any fans in the stadium.
In my opinion, as a kopite season ticket holder for years - the RTK standing area ticket holders are a complete pain in the arse based on yesterday's "performance". They seem to have taken a singing area to mean a standing area, at all times, regardless of what is happening on the pitch. They sing songs that most people on the kop have long since forgotten (i'd walk a million miles for one of your smiles oh kenny - FFS his last game was in 1990 and he was 39 then - sing one we all know if you want to generate an atmosphere). Most of the kop don't know the words to the obscure songs they sing, and so they kill the atmosphere as much as they generate it. They pick fights with stewards, they sing about "carrying hatchets to bury in your heads", and they argue whenever anyone tells them to behave in anything appraoching an adult manner. In short, they are a pain in the arse, are a throwback to the bad old days, and I hope a few more of the feckers are ejected permanently as the season goes on. The atmosphere yesterday was worse because of them, not better.
