Atletico Madrid have made contact with the agent of Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina.

AS says Atletico chiefs are unconvinced by their current keepers, Leo Franco and Christian Abbiati, and want to bring Reina back to Spain next season.

Reina only signed a new deal with Liverpool earlier this year, but his agent, Manuel Garcia Quilon, has been sounded out by high-level Atletico representatives.

Atletico are counting on an emotional pull to convince Reina to move to Madrid. The Liverpool keeper's Dad, Miguel, won the Liga and Copa del Rey playing in goal for Atletico.
