I wouldn`t be to worried about Rafa. In 10 years time after he will lead LFC to unprecedented dominance in english and european football winning 2 quadruples, 3 trebles and 6 doubles even most ardent Scum and Chavski fans will have no choice but to place him at the top.

You can say what you like about mourinho but he's an exceptional manager, as of course is rafa. mourinho's record with porto is top notch, wining the UEFA Cup & CL in successive seasons with a portuguese club is a top effort.

As for the best ever, i'd go for Sir bob. His record is fantastic but managers such as Clough, Shanks & busby are right up their too.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

the fergie v bob thing is a little complex

                  a) on the one hand bob won 3 european cups and (I think) six leagues in 9 seasons if you extrapolate(sp) this over the same period fergie has been in charge he would have won far more

                  b) on the other hand fergie built up manu virtually from nothing they were nothing more than a cup team and hadn't won the league for twenty six years (26!!!!!) he has built manu into one of the biggest football franchises in the world.

imho on things won bob is ahead of him and building up a team into an empire shanks is above him.

Maureen is incredibly limited in the range of tactics he can use. He will never see any kind of extended success at a club, let alone build any kind of team 'dynasty'.

If he can't do anything different with the money he has had at Chelski it will be funny watching him manage anywhere else.

Portugese club yes, but they were an exceptional team of players.

Not disagreeing with you that Maureen is a manager to be rated, but he doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the company of Shanks, Paisley or the others.
