I disagree. He's probably our best set piece taker, he can actually cross with his left foot and I like him.

    So there.

I agree Finnan, Carra and Agger are all quality players IMO and all we need is a left back on that level to complete the set.

The second goal got us through the tie - but don't give the lad any credit for it though. It's only Riise after all..................
Sorry - should've specified. I meant league goals. There's a stat floating around somewhere - over 60 shots in the league and one goal.

I knew what you meant mate! I was being pedantic that's all.

His positional sense is laughable mate. He is a dodgy defender, plain and simple.
Im not slating him, he was one of my fave players, but he's just not good enough anymore as a first choice LB.
I've been making this point since Agger joined. It's not that Riise is bad, just that there are many better. Remember, if you stand still, you are really going backwards. Riise is not going forward!!!

He is also by far the weakest link in our defence. We are definitely more vulnerable down the left than we are anywhere else.

His passing is also top notch. You could see that last season once he had settled in. As is obvious, Riise's hoofs don't even compare to Fabio.

Mind you, Riise did play a lovely ball to Torres late on against Wigan. More by luck than design tho'

I'm with AFII, don't discount Insua. He is class. I watched him all through the U20 world cup and his reserve games last season. He IS class. He will be our first choice left back in the next year or so.

you'd hope so given he is a professioal earning 50k a week. Be nice if he learnt to pass instead of hoof and could use his right foot (yes ignoring his winner away to Barca )

Insua, does all of those better than Riise.
