Missing out on Gab Heinze was a big loss.......

I think it was, he can cover left and centre back Sami's legs are gone and cant play week in week out these days and Rafa does have a left back that he really rates.

We need a left back in January or just wait for real quality in the summer :cough: Bale :cough:

In hindsight yeah, he would have been good cover. That said our manager shouldnt have put all his eggs in one basket, we should have had options for if it fell through.

The same mistake he did last season with Daniel Alves.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I wouldn't say so. It depends on which way you look at it. I'm glad we haven't go Alves now, too much out-side of the basket eggs ;]

But I fully agree and had been advocating it all throughout the whole saga, Heinze would've just given us that extra edge, defensively (as if we didn't need it enough )

Its not like it was anyone at the club's fault we didn't get him, we tried pretty damn hard but in the end the arbitration went against us. Not a lot else could have been done.

So I don't quite understand the point of this thread

Dunno what you dream of, but my dreams certainly don't involve rather ugly ex-ManU players

Problem tonight was lack of midfield creativity and control, not Sami's defending, or the left back position. More backup in defence would be good, but I'm far more worried about the shape and direction of the midfield. And as for LB, well, Aurelio's only just back form a serious injury, and Riise has done a job for us for years, I'm not entirely sure how having Heinze rather than either of them playing for the last few games would somehow magically have improved our form or play. For a start, Heinze can't cross to save his life.

Oh, and I've just noticed the *cough* Bale *cough* in Foxy's first post. Man, seriously though, ok, the lad hits a sweet dead ball, but have you seen the state of Spurs' defensive record? There is no evidence whatsoever that Gareth Bale is even actually a defender, let alone a good one.

I disagree with the original post. Our problems are not defensive ones, they are further up the pitch.

We lost a match - get over it.

Disagree. Never wanted him in the first place.
Last night had nothing to do with needing more cover at the back, it was more to do with the whole team playing ****e.

I voted no. Heinze would have been great for a season or two but we really missed out on Gareth Bale. He is awesome raiding forward - his confidence is terrific and he has no fear because he's so young. I think Finnan will have to be at the top of his game this weekend to keep him quiet.

                              That's disastrous.
                              .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.
