If we are going to get a new left back, we don't need 2 squad players as cover so one needs to go. Perhaps we haven't seen the best of Aurelio but between him and Riise, I'd prefer to keep Riise.

Rafa realises we can get better quality; at this moment, Riise and Crouch are meh but Rafa thinks that with the money that is available, he can do better.

Riise has been a good servant to the club serving for 5 years (ish) and Crouch has been ok but maybe Rafa realises that if we are to contending for the title, we could do it without these two and with someone like Cheillini and Zigic

We need to sell Riise and get a proper left back in. Riise is a joke of a defender. He can't defend.

Rafa never mentions how much he's got to spend so this part of the story is utter bollox. As for the sale of Crouch & Riise I cant say I'm surprised.
Inspite of what people here think of Riise, hes the weakest link in our defence, opponents most of the time attack us down that left flank and score.
If we can get 5£ m for Riise then sell him.
On the other hand, Crouch I feel is not getting a fair crack of the whip, therefore, his confidence is shot and it shows on the pitch. His body language tells it all.
It will be unfortunate for him to leave but Rafa must have a better replacement.

I'm amazed that we would reveal to the public how much money we have but if it's a quote, as it is in this case, then there must be some weight behind it.

Lets face it Crouch, unless he improves alot, wouldn't be missed. He's been more of a hinderance to the team this season. I wouldn't be as keen to sell Riise but if we have aspirations of getting to the top and staying there then we can always look to improve.
