With the exception of 2003/2004 season, Stevie G has always been very inconsistent !!
It's not just Stevie though, its the whole team who are playing poorly - lacking in motivation big time !!

Maybe something to do with his injury.
To call him heartless is ignorant of the truth.

I think there might be an idea to move him back to right, when Xabi is back. He's too inconsistent to play in the middle.

Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

Gerrard is showing time and time again why he's an impact player and not a playmaker. He was struggling to dictate our play, no vision or game intelligence that you should expect from your "main man" in attack. At times it was so apparent that Mascherano decided to pull the strings and we actually looked better.

When Alonso is back, Gerrard should move over. Unless we've got a Pablo Aimar behind Torres, Gerrard shouldn't be a part of the CM duo.

If it means Pennant doesn't play then I'd be all for it.

I think he is a victim of changing positions too often, I think if you asked Stevie, as an indivual, and not as the captain of LFC, he would say not being able to pin down a regular starting position in a familiar position would be a reason for his patchy form.
I think he has suffered more than anyone with alonso being out, I think we have really missed him of late.
Gerrard has far too much quality though not to be back to his best at some stage, just hope it is sooner rather than later.

Absolutely not. Xabi and Masher would be so slow in CM. CM is the heartbeat of the team - needs dynamism , drive and determination. SG IS off form, but like it or not, we don't have anybody in the squad of sufficient quality to play Att CM like he does. Granted he IS the best RMer at the club - but that's because we're so poor in wide areas, not because SG is great there.

SG is a CMer -always has been, always will be. Play your best players in their best position.

                              Are you talking to me?
If so, it is your opinion and you are entitled to it.
But personally, I think Alonso keeps things ticking over more smoothly in midfield than Gerrard does. I think Gerrard is more suited to an advanced midfield position than central defensive midfield, which is where Alonso plays.
So, would you prefer Gerrard to be playing the defensive role for England while Lampturd gets all the attacking license?.
