Thanjk you.

I created a thread a while back about an article in Marca/as, in which Rafa said that while he was bedding in he would play torres in those games in which he is most likely to score in order to build up his confidence for playing the EPL i.e. those games where we are most likely to be able to play on the counterattack. Today was a departure from that so maybe he has decided the bedding in time is over and that we'll see more of him.
I think that is more in Rafa's thinking than resting him for the sake of fitness.
Garcia would have been perfect, imho. Benayoun could do a job in there between now and getting someone else in.
Firstly, thank god for Torres,
Tevez would have been ideal, perfect foil for Torres.
I dunno about whether Garcia or Yossi could do the job but I do see where you are coming from. FWIW I think maybe it's time for Babel to be pushed upfront with Torres, think he has the physcial presence and pace to compliment Torres.

I'd be tempted to sell Crouch and / or Kuyt and buy Huntelaar in Jan if he's available. We badly need another goalscoring striker with the knack of being in the right place at the right time. If we lose Torres for any length of time the cupboard looks bare.
And a genuine experienced winger of sufficient class to go straight into the 1st 11 wouldn't go amiss either.

Yeah, I would like to see Babel play there. In time I think he will but in the short term I think Rafa will continue to use him out wide. He looked pretty effective to me when he came on. The Spurs players never knew where he would end up next but he never had the movement round about him at times to do much when he was in possesion. We were far to rigid at times.

There was a Torres where he explained that Rafa has a fixed set of roles to which he assigns players. Based on the way I've seen players play, I can't see how you could fit in Huntelaar. He can't play the torres role as he is not quick enough and he certainly cant play the Kuyt/Crow role.
Another positive from today : Andrey Voronin.
Nice sharp movement for today's goal and some very good tracking back.
Based on todays display alone, again I repeat that, based on todays display alone, he has overtaken Kuyt as the second striker in my mind.
