You tend to see things that other people don't see in relation to Gerrard performances. To say he was by far the best player and that he hardly gave the ball away is ****ing laughable. ffs the number of times he hurrid his passes and tried the spectacular kill pass instead of being patiend and keeping it simple, was the most annoying thing for me in the game. He gave the ball away far to often
I saw the same game as you

I'd play 4231, where instead of the onus on the 1 being playing on the last shoulder. For me they should be the one playing holding up the ball. That would allow the 3 (inc. Gerrard) to get up quickly and support the attack. It's basically the was Valencia played.

Again, I'd sacrafice a striker and go with 4231.
        I agree with this.
And I have banged on about 4231 before.
Now we have the striker to play this formation, and SG as one of the attacking mids will be perfect.
Alonso and Masch, or Lucas can mop up behind them.

We just need one more quality creative forward to play as one of those 3.

Agree to disagree then bro. World Class in a "right role"... well... dont sit well with me.

That was the difference between Lucas and SG on sat. Lucas focused on bringing the rest of the team into play, whereas SG was trying to make the breakthrough his self.

Not only that. Masher started playing better. And Sissoko managed to move into space better too (to miss that shot!)

You'll have to spell this one out for me - bit (more) demoralised after the game.

With a 4231 formation, who keeps check on a Lescott-type scenario from Saturday? Bombin' up and down the wing. Seems narrow to me.
                Francis.

...."Any team that concedes as few goals as we concede is going to be tough to play against..." - Fernando Torres on Liverpool

And when I say 'play Gerrard on the left', I mean on the left

                A defensive mid for £18m?

with a 4231 I am looking for a formation like

                          Reina
                          Finnan-Carra-Agger-Waiter
                          ----Xabi---Momo---
                          Pennant---SG---Babel
                          ---Torres---

With that setup, Pennant, Finnan and Momo (covering all wings) would be responsible for covering lescott.

                          Make sense?

Sorry mate you are full of ****! If you are going to state such unsubstantiated BS then you should at least try to justify it.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I would sign up Nasri or Diego as the ???? player.
