Back in the old days, when the kop was standing, when you had to queue for hours to get in as it was pay in only and no fancard bollocks, when the kop stunk of piss, when it was a physically uncomfortable battle to watch the match as you where jammed in like sardines and invariably had a crush barrier squeezing the last drops of air out of your lungs.
We supported the team. If we went a goal down it was gut-wrenching, but by the time the restart was about to be taken the kop was in full roar, roaring the team on, regardless of the goal we had let in, regardless of how **** we were playing, we would ROAR the reds on to victory.

How many of these ****ers on here were on the kop back then roaring the reds on with me?

I genuinely do dislike some of the so-called "fans" we have attracted in the last 15-20 years.

I only managed to get on the Kop a few times when it was standing mate as me arl man who was a season ticket holder before he moved over to the Isle of Man wanted me to sit with him in the main stand.

It was a joy to behold the few times I managed to get in and even though my visits were few a far between I echo what you have said.

Yeah, my rants are about fair-weather fans regardless of where they come from. To me, someone like Ronan, who flies over from Galway for every match he can, is a far better supporter than someone who lives in Liverpool but never stops moaning about the team.

I'm sure when Syd calms down he'll realise I've been winding him up a little bit but I'm fed up with almost everybody slagging off the team or the Manager when we don't win by six. As Rocket AND PACMAN said earlier, I trust and believe in the Manager and the team for the long haul. Judge them at the end of May, not the end of October.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not blind enough to think last night or the last 6 or 7 games have been fantasy football. Of course it hasn't, but you have to keep it all in perspective. There are very few teams who can play great attacking football AND win trophies as often as we have. Look at Man Utd in Europe. They play nice football, always attack and they've got some world class players. But 19 out of 20 times Ferguson has got knocked out of Europe before the final. Rafa has a better record in the Champions League in just three seasons because he makes us hard to beat. It might not be pretty to watch at times but it's ****ing effective.

People are jisming over Arsenal right now but they haven't won anything for three years and might win **** all again this season. And as for comparisons with our great teams of the past? Don't make me laugh. At times it was dreadful to watch but we'd grind out a draw when we should have lost or sneak a lucky winner near the end. Just like this season apart from a handful of games.

I just want us to generally win the games where we're the superior team. I want the players to give their all and i want the manager to learn from when things dont work.

Bit of a jump from what we're seeing at the moment, and winning by 6 isnt there? Dont be silly enough to imply that i'm after 'fantasy football' and 6-0 wins, because that's not what i'm about at all.

I want us to GENERALLY win the games we 'should' be winning. And when we play poorly and/or dont get results that we SHOULD get, it pisses me off. That's all.
