Same could be said about Benjani, Eduardo or Santa Cruz. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Most top clubs were unwilling to take the gamble on Torres, we did, we came up trumps.

You either spend your money on form or class these days. It's not the first or last time we will get it wrong.

But I think it's a different kind of criticism. Kuyt's work rate and honesty will ensure that he's never abused personally unlike some of the vitriol that was aimed at Garcia which was disgraceful. He used to get slaughtered, called lazy, flash, a cheat etc. It was all pretty personal whereas with Kuyt it's 'he's a great pro who works hard but just doesn't cut the mustard'.

Kuyt will never be abused like that because he gives everything he has for the shirt.

yeah probably right there. Mind you the Riise Brigade are handy with their insults and he gives everything

Adebayor, Van Persie, Anelka, Kalou, Defoe, Ashton, Saha ? Surely they were all signed for around 10 million quid?

I'd say Riise could well be no 2 on the list after Kewell for the amount of abuse they get from the stands.

Good player Kuyt. He works like a

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

I think that Kuyt is not good enough as a 2nd striker for us but if we would be able to get somebody more creative and simply better than him to partner Torres I would be more than happy for him to stay as a back up striker.

He never moans even if he is left out of the squad. And against weaker sides he makes enough even if he doesn`t score that often. So he would be good alternative if Torres or some other striker needs a rest.

I think he is that kind of player that menagers love and fans can`t understand why. If Rafa would like to sell him i reckon that at least few clubs would be interested and we could still get a fair price.

Next thing about him is that he has very strong mentality. Who would you like to see taking decisive penalty in a CL final shoot - out ? It might seem academical at this moment in time but in few months time can be the difference between winning or losing silverware.

He is very frustrating at times but I don`t want us to sell him cause as a squad player he is excellent.

The "problem" is that Kuyt is our second best striker, he should be our third or fourth choice striker that we can use in tough away games.

We need a better second choice striker to play with Torres.

                      I would be happy with...

                      1. Torres
                      2. New striker in Torres class.
                      3. Babel
                      4. Kuyt or one of our young strikers
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

What's wrong with sticking Ben-ya-noon up top with Torres?

Babel seems to do better as a super sub at the moment, I'm not sure he's ready to start week in week out.
Yossi would make a great "Beardsley-type" striker IMO. He's got a cracking little shot on him, he can beat players and he has excellent vision.
I think he's wasted on the right.
I'd like to see Gerrard back on the right and Benny and Torres up top. Xabi and Mascerano in the middle.

You'd think at the very least he'd use some sort of alias.
Mavier Jascherano or something would do it.

                              Make an effort, son.
