I'm not a fan of Kuyt by any means, he's been muck this season and unless he dramatically improves his form he should be a goner come the summer. However today i thought he was alright, in terms of touch and control he was neat and tidy and didn't give the ball away as much. Still though he never really looked like scoring once again and that for any striker is simply not good enough, nevermind one that plays for a club like Liverpool.
I do have a a great deal of sympathy for him(on the pitch i mean) it's painful viewing watching a player who puts so much work and effort in to doing well for the team struggle as much as Kuyt is at this present time. Hard to watch.

In terms of touch and control he was awful today. Most of the attacks that went through him broke down. I always gave him the benefit of the doubt but today convinced me that he should only be brought on as sub. Babel should have replaced him with Kewell going up front with Torres, we might have kept the ball more

As I said before, I suspect Rafa isn't that pleased with Kuyt's end product in the box this season, and that, if possible, and if substantially better replacements are available, he might look to move him on in the reasonably near future.

But, sometimes you have to work with what you've got, and up to today, Kuyt and Torres have formed a pretty decent partnership in all but the toughest games. Kuyt was certainly worth a risk when we bought him, he had an excellent scoring record, plus he had the character and commitment Rafa wants in a player. In the first few months of his career here we saw enough to suggest that he might well have a good future at the club, and to explain why the money was spent; since then things have simply gone in the wrong direction. Rafa will know that, but Kuyt will continue to play a role in his sides, as another disappointment, Morientes, did before him, until the day he is sold.

The kuyt bashing is gone totally OTT. It's moronic at best.

could somebody lend kuyt some fooking pace!! he seriously needs to work on it as he is the slowest striker in the known universe.

he's so frustrating as he does cause defences problems which allows others holes to get into, but you cant argue that the lack of goals is clearly a "sold in january" offence

berbatov is an absolute prick that would never fit in with our dressing room. Also his goal ratio was the same as kuyts until recently when he stuck a rocket up his arse to get a move cos thats the type of prick he is.

Not for me thanks, hes an absolute ******.

One other point to make is also that Kuyt had a decent game against Man City. Torres was ****in diabolically bad.

Obviously Torres is the better player but seems strange that Kuyt is getting slaughtered when he had a far better game than his strike partner.

It's an odd one - Kuyt scored plenty of goals in Holland, obviously doesn't mean he'd score plenty here but it did prove he knew where the goals were. What's annoying and frustrating is the easy chances he is missing. No-one expects him to beat 2 or 3 players and curl the ball in like Torres can. What we do expect though is for him to bury the easier chances when they come.

He just aint doing that. His second touch is usually a 50/50 tackle and he doesn't even seem to be able to make simple passes at the moment.
He can't have become a bad player, we all know he can score goals.
It has to be a case of poor form/low confidence.

He needs a goal, then the goals will come. But he just can't get that goal.
                  It's a vicious circle

We all loved him when he first arrived, we just need to get behind him and see him through this period.
We did it for Crouch. We'd do it for Torres.

No doubt that Torrres was our worst player yesterday.

Correct, unfortunately for us, with Gerrard not far behind him.

Dont see the point of slagging our own players off on here full stop tbh but if people have an urge to do so at least be fair.

There where far worse performances yesterday than what Kuyt gave. He was actually one of our better players on the day.

He got more chances to score goals in Holland than in the PL. He has been found out here. Some players simply can't make the final step.

Kuyt is good enough to play for a mid-table team but not a team that want to win the title.

I would compare him to Baros. The same type of player but not good enough for Liverpool FC.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

when we talk about strength in dept bla bla bla it just goes to show we are still lacking in certain areas,

kuyt played well but still done **** all - when torres and gerrard are off their game we struggle.

we need to replace kuyt and crouch and veronin with a top class striker and decent third choice - maybe this is babel
"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

Probably a good comparison to Baros, though I think I'd rather Baros in the side right now to Kuyt.

Judging by the above stats, neither are of the required standard then. As I mentioned yesterday, our squad lacks real quality with regards to forwards. There's no doubt in my mind that Rafa will address this in the summer.
