Cos he was signed in a sort of gamble if you remember. He wasnt 1st choice by any means but it was clear we needed to try summat up front.

He took a risk and signed Kuyt (who had a fantastic goals record in holland) but it hasnt worked out, even though there were signs early on that it may do.

One things for sure though, however long he remains at liverpool for, his attitude alone deserves more respect than he is shown by a lot of people on here.

My memory is shot mate, who else were we in for at the time?

Pretty sure we were linked with him for a full year before we signed him, this is going back to KT days. Think he was Rafa's first choice.

Signing every player is a risk.

It does worry me though that somebody scouted Kuyt, thought he was good, told Rafa, who agreed, then bought him.

anything over 5 minutes ago is too much for my brain to remember name wise but I deffo remember us going for him after we couldnt get someone else. We were linked with him for a year yes but Rafa always thought he was way over-priced if I remember correctly and only bought him at the last minute when it was a case of him or no-one

a gamble that doesnt appear to have paid off but i dont blame him for trying at the time

          He's lost at LFC.

It'll be better for everyone if he can find a new club.

AFII and Lecter were going on about how Kuyt and Owen were Rafa's preferred number 1 partnership at the time so maybe you're thinking about Owen?

            Imagine that Kuyt and Owen

my god was Dirky boy utter poo this morning.

What has happened to him? When he first signed he looked like he could be like Shearer. He wasnt afraid to have a crack from anywhere, and he used his physical presence to unsettle defenders.....not to mention his non stop running.

This season and the tail end of last he has just gotten worse and worse.

Last night was it for me. Thats the worst ive seen from him. Shocking doesnt even do it justice, he was diabolical. Yossi played a nice little pass through two defenders for Kuyt to run onto.......but Dirk was heading for the ****ing corner flag. His blaze over the bar was embarrasing. That was a simple chance, shoot for the corner and it was a goal barring a wonder save......what did he do? Smashes it into row 15

Play one of the young lads Rafa, they will do a hell of alot better

He needs to go back to Holland, where the defending is pedestrian and more suited to his lack of pace. Unfortunately if we were to sell him to a club there we'd be lucky to get back half our initial investment.

1 goal from general play and that was lucky one is a pathetic return for our number 2 striker. half the friggin season has gone and its not like he is creating chances either. i have desperately wanted him to do well, as we all have, but its time to cut our losses.

We've come a long way from this:

It reminds me of when David James went through his bad patch. We kept playing him and playing him but it only got worse to the point where he looked like he never belonged in goal. We even bought Friedel and despite buying him and going through all the international clearance bollocks..still played Jamo.

Now its the same with Kuyt to a point. We keep putting him in the team and his performances get worse. There must come a point where Rafa says..you know what, you are dropped and we start seeing Crouch playing with Torres for a bit.

It has to stop Rafa. Buy another striker...preferably not from Holland

You should have summarized that into a one liner of yours.

Feel sorry for him. He obviously has talent but has forgotten where it lies. He reminds me off Ian Baker-Finch ATM.

Only thing he has going for him is that he seems to be Torres best partner, although I think it is time to give Babel a run up front now. Perhaps start Kuyt and bring on Ryan after 60 minutes?
