    Steve Hunter 22 November 2007

Liverpool's Academy team will begin the defence of their FA Youth Cup with a trip to Wycombe Wanderers in the third round of this season's competition.
Wycombe earned the right to face Liverpool when they beat Dagenham and Redbridge 5-0 last night. George Daly was the hero as he hit a hat-trick and further goals from Calum Botham and Daniel Flitchett completed the rout.

No date has yet been set for the match at Adams Park, although it must take place before Saturday December 15.

If Rafa is sacked or leaves, do you think this would effect the academy? Especially with Rafa changing it all so it was how he likes it!

I think that Rafa has put in place a lot of people who are very well respected in youth development circles so I doubt much will change. depending on the new manager we might change from having everyone learning zonal marking but I doubt it needs any fundamental overhauling now.

Just seen the Academy vs manc's highlights -two all draw, Etherington and Purie both scored beauties to claw back a two goal deficit.

Both look promising as Do Amoo and Ajdarevic, hopefully they'll continue to develop into the first team.

Does anyone know how Bouzanis is going?
Nah. He won't win the Prem. You can quote me on that. - Sarb24

not sure how much you have seen of the young aussie? But i can't agree with that! Yes he seems to be a good shot stopper but the rest of his game like kicking, handling, decision making etc. has been patchy and he has made quite a few mistakes this season.

Also you may have noticed that he has been dropped in the big academy games like the mini derby, citeh and manc game.

He has potential but to say he has been brilliant is wide of the mark.

POURIE AND ECCLESTONE WIN IT FOR REDS
                          Paul Eaton 08 December 2007

Liverpool's youngsters warmed up for the start of their FA Youth Cup defence this week with an impressive 3-1 victory at Crewe on Saturday morning.
Hughie McAuley's men recovered from going a goal down early in the second half to turn the game around with a double strike from Marvin Pourie and a goal from Nathan Ecclestone.

"The goals came in the second half but I actually thought our best football came before the break," said McAuley.

"We had a lot of chances in the first half but just couldn't take them and it came as a bit of a shock when we went behind after the interval. It was an unfortunate mix-up between Joe Kennedy and our goalkeeper Chris Oldfield and Crewe took advantage.

"The conditions were horrible and we were playing against driving wind and rain which made good football difficult, but we did well to get back into the match and then go on and win it.

"The equaliser came from the penalty spot after Marvin Pourie had been brought down and he then got up to tuck the kick away himself.

"We took the lead five minutes later when Nathan Ecclestone headed home from a good delivery by Sean Highdale and then just before the end Marvin scored his second with a near post header from a Ben Parsonage cross.

"It was a pleasing result which I think takes us above Crewe in the league table now. We can take a lot of confidence from that performance as we start our preparations and build-up to the Youth Cup game in Wycombe on Wednesday night."

Team: Oldfield, Irwin (Parsonage), Kennedy, Wootton, Stephen (Scott), Amoo, Highdale, Ajdarevic, Kacaniklic (Collins), Ecclestone, Pourie.

These kids are just banging in the goals

                                Nemeth, Eccleston, Amoo and Pourie.

Surely one of them will be first team worthy
