Liverpool, Man Utd forced to bid early for Menez

Liverpool, Man Utd forced to bid early for Menez
    tribalfootball.com - November 06, 2007

Manchester United and Liverpool may be forced into bidding early for AS Monaco midfielder Jeremy Menez.

Both Premiership giants are monitoring the 20 year-old this season with a view to moving for the playmaker in the summer.

However, Gazzetta dello Sport says Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti is ready to release significant transfer funds in January and a deal for Menez is high on the agenda.

United and Liverpool have made contact with Monaco in the last month about Menez's situation, however Inter believe they have the inside-running having struck a good relationship with the French club during negotiations for wing-back Maicon last year.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

This lad could very well be the next great.

He is at least as skillful as Torres, if not more. He has pace, creativity, finishing, and seems to have his feet on the ground. He is if you will Garcia with more pace and power.
Also he really looks to me like a Rafa player.
If Rafa decides to go for him I would be as happy as a Frenchman who has just invented a pair of self removing trousers.

Corner taking, tackling, positioning and most importantly for Rafa Teamwork is not good.

well if hes a fan ...then we'll just only have to meet the valuation. should be around the 10 million pound bracket. will surely improve the team significantly.quaresma would be my first choice but i dont think we will be able to cough up 20 million on one player with other positions in need of bolstering

This kid is not a winger. Any more then Luis Garcia is a winger.

I've been very impressed with the little I've seen. Exceptional technique, not just fancy Ronaldo step overs, the ball is glued to his boots and he seems to be able to do anything with it and be very effective.

His dribbling ability is also spectacular and he can power a shot with either foot. You really don't notice which is his weaker side. Quality player.

He should play in Kuyts position, behind the striker.

However from what i've seen of him (on clip sites) he looks similar to Joe Cole in the way he plays so maybe he could do a 'job' in the wide areas.

Was anything said about him being a winger? We need intelligent players capable of playing from a wide area - Garcia could do that - and add a goal threat - Garcia did that. Those should be the criteria. I think Quaresma offers a bit of both these qualities aswell and is more of a winger, but despite being different types of player they still compete for the same place in the starting XI so it is reasonable to compare them.
