Then why did we not sap all the talent out of Fowler, Owen, Gerrard and Carra?

Because that was 9-10 years ago

Sometimes you are already good enough even if you are not even 20 years old and still isn't the finished article.

This is Rafa's first year with his youngsters. We don't know how they will progress and how Rafa want them to play. We will know that in two, three years time.

I think Rafa will give maybe one or two of them a chance next season in the squad, full time, like Anderson and Hobbs for example, and then one or two a season.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

The thing is though. None of these young players that have not made it have gone on to do very well. I think it is a combination of us needing a better scouting network and having the money to go after the best young players.

we're all scared of younguns after what houlier pulled, with le tallec and pongolle, but lets give rafa the benefit of a doubt, i have no problem with us buying young, mainly do to the fact that rafa isn't houlier...

But what's happened to Roque, Barragan, Hobbs?

hobbs could still be a great defender, sows promise, roque always showed promise but i don't know now, barragan is doing well in spain from what i can tell, and we have an option to buy him back...

but these players are different from menez, we bought hobbs when he was 16, now were not that stupid to think that it wouldn't take years untill he might be ready. menez, is like babel, he's almost ready, he isn't 16 playing for the under 18...

plus rafa has signed probably around 20-30 15-17 year olds, knowing the odds of any of them breaking through, out of all those players we will be lucky if we get 3-4 top class players and a few squad players. but since we are scouting the world for those kids, when they come through we must expect it to be quality, but this is a program that takes years and can not be judged right now. how many youngsters do you think wenger has signed that haven't made the grade and are stuck in the reserves or have moved on...

My point is young players come here and their game seems to fall apart.

We seem to fail in the final part of developing players.

If they are not good enough they seem to fall apart.

my above statement says why i don't agree with it, you youth setup is developing under benitez, and the kids he is bringing in are a few years from being the finished article, so it's way to early to judge benitez's setup...
