Wingers are a thing of the past, players who operate in the wide midfield areas can't be expected to just run on the touchline and put in crosses, they have to do a lot more than that in the modern game.

Ronaldo is not a "winger" these days, look at the way he plays.

Look at how Arsenal play their football.

Menez is a perfect player to put out wide.

Imagine players like Luis and him in attacking midfield if we had some quick attacking full backs?

Sigh...we have Riise and Finnan...Not Alves and Lahm..

Those should be the criteria. I think Quaresma offers a bit of both these qualities aswell and is more of a winger, but despite being different types of player they still compete for the same place in the starting XI so it is reasonable to compare them.
I agree with you on everything but that I would not want Quaresma. I think Menez in simply a better player. Quaresma seems to often limited and not very efficient. I think Menez if a far more intelligent footballer.

I have seen nothing of Menez. Quaresma I have seen a reasonable amount of, I'm not completely sold in the way some are, and think he is a good player who has the right qualities. Whether he is quite good enough or has the right mentality for the PL I don't know.

If he's the finished article then fine but there's no point in us buying players who are not the finished article as youngsters always lose their way at this club and fade into obscurity.

                      Agger wasn't the finished article.

Now he is one of the best central defenders in the World.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Fabregas, Messi and Aguero to name three good examples.

I agree, I'm just saying there is no point in us buying youngsters who are not the finished article as we seem to sap all the talent and enthusiasm out of them and they lose their way instead of completing their development.

Both of you have completely missed the point:

LFC doesn't do well with players of potential, we waste it and we drum any enthusiasm out of them and they end up a Crewe.
