how close do we need to be.....

after the new year? If we are within 10pts at christmas and judging by scums form is that to much?

do we realistically need to be within 6/7 points after christmas to have a realistic title shot?

I've said all season (in fact, for a couple of seasons) that if we are within 6 points on January 2nd then I'm convinced we will win it. If we are within 10 points then we'll go close, but it will probably just be too much. The biggest problem is that we've got Arsenal, Chelsea and the Mancs away from home in the second half of the season.

[edit - actually we've got the Mancs away, then the derby at home, then Arsenal away in consecutive weeks. What a fortnight that will be!]

I'd say up to 12 points .. but I expect it to be somewhere between 5 and 7 ... Man U have a much easier run in to Chrimbo ... If we can keep to within less than 5 points of them or better we are in with a very loud shout I would say

I think that if we are thinking of losing points between now and Christmas we cannot really be expecting to get them back in the second half. Six points - no more.

Has to be less than 10 IMO.

          Maybe 8, i'd say.

Dont forget, we still have to go AWAY to all 3 of Arsenal, United and Chelsea.

Even 8 points might be too much to make up by then, if we still have those 3 away games to come.

we have to be ahead on points, not behind. Mancs, Arse and Chavski will all take points off us next year.

We need to be right on them at Christmas, hopefully the January window will bring us the few players we need to push on and overtake the scums.

so if by the end of christmas we are not ahead, we wont win the league?
massively disagree. We have proved we can go anywhere, on any given occasion and win.

I reckon within 6pts and the title is easily within our grasp

6-8 points, preferably less, otherwise we will not go close. We draw too many.

The other teams have proven they have what it takes to go all the way. We haven't. As such, we can't afford to drop too far off the leaders otherwise we'll be out of it.

I wouldn't want the gap to get any wider than 6pts personally.

I love an optimistic post. I am an "glass half full sort of guy" but i doubt that. We will be cloaser though, I reckon, although the Manc game will be pivotal.

I am confident that if we are within 6 points of the top at the new year, we are going to be the 2007/08 PL Champions!!! Wooooooooooooooooohoooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!

if we can be within 6 points same games played then I concur. That would mean during our bad spell we haven't lost ground and the players will believe as our post chrimbo form is usually better

Any more than 6 and with the 3 top games away would be a tall order.

The Man U match's will be the make or break for us.
