Now we have 2. Better than one, granted.

Babel is potentially a third, but needs to develop.

For the love of god Rafa, go and buy a fourth. Then you can rotate to your heart's content, with 2 sitting on the bench and 2 on the pitch.

That's what'll turn 0-0 draws against the likes of Brum and Pompey into wins.

Sod all this 'hard working' bollocks. Match winners win you matches. There's a clue in the title. Let the water carriers carry water by all means. Just have the diamonds in amongst the rough too. Some weight can finally be lifted off Steven Gerrard's shoulders.

    Onwards...
    I agree totally cliche` man.

7900 posts vs 35, clearly your cyber persona means more to you than it does to me.

Clearly, it's really impossible having a sensible discussion with you.
Giggs and Scholes are no longer consistent world class matchwinners.

As for your choices...you've just picked virtually anyone who could realistically score a couple of winning goals

There are a lot of top class players and we have plenty of them. The elusive match winners you described aren't so obvious to spot and I would imagine a lot harder to secure for any team.

I dont think they're even slightly difficult to spot TBH.

Securing them, well yes, takes a lot of money.

It's about opinions. For me, these players (incl. Giggs and Scholes) are match winning players (in the case of Babel and Lucas they're potential as well as they possess the ability to change a game even though they're a bit raw - Babel did that alongside Torres last night). You don't have to score a goal to change games or to win games.

So you see them as being at the same level as the likes of Ronaldo, Fabregas, Torres, Gerrard, etc?

                  Riiiight...

Sure it's about opinions, but i could claim that Kuyt's a better striker than Drogba...it'd be an opinion, after all.

                  It'd still be bull****, mind...

Wasnt it you who once said that Bellamy was better than Rooney?

We need a consitent match winner, actually a consitent match player would be better.

So you have the blessing of knowing who's good and who's not then ? The buck stops with you isn't it ?

FFS, you've been criticizing left right and center since the start of our poor run and taking the piss at people disagreeing with you, which I don't like at all, like you've got the god given right to know better than others.

You should be put alone in a forum together with posters you consider your equals, so that you just take pot shots at one another when you're bored.

The way you over analyze things, bears the hallmarks of someone who's been studying the game all his life. This player's ****e, that one is also ****e, Rafa buys average players etc ... etc ... That's simply boring.

You lot have all missed our 'third top class player' anyway - Pepe.

Personally I think this thread is going nowhere, some people start off talking about 'match winners', then we're onto 'world class' and now 'top class'. It's all semantics. Anyway, the original post talked about 'match winners' so I stand by the fact we've got Stevie, Fernando, Benayoun, Kewell when fully fit and Pepe, which isn't bad really. Then you've got several potentials like Babel who either haven't been in the side enough or done it consistently enough to warrant inclusion. All this talk about 'world class' players is beside the point, any ****er worth over £25m should bloody well be able to win you a match...but even the Chavs don't have 4 'match winning' players worth £100m between them so suggesting we should is unrealistic IMO.
"the correct decision would have been a penalty for us a red card for Gattuso and a yellow for Stevie"

                          LF Clove aka AFII 11/10/07

"i personally hold you and several other gob****es responsible for the chaos this club is in"

To clarify fiddy...consistent world class matchwinners - players who, on a fairly regular basis, pop up and make the difference to win us a game we'd have probably otherwise drawn.

So, we're talking your Stevie Gerrards and Fernando Torres'...

Not people who have ONCE or TWICE produced a winning goal.

To give you an example, last season, Cristiano Ronaldo scored 8 winning goals, which equates to 16 points. THAT is the kind of thing i'm on about. Gerrard has been doing it for us for years, Torres is now starting to as well.

Why are you so angry in this thread DJS???
I think it's a foul, and if the ref gives it. He got to give a penalty. I know it's outside the box, but you see them given that close to the area. So if the ref gives it he's got to give the penalty as it so close to the area. But I think it's a penalty. Robbie Savage 8/11/06

Are you watching Manchester United? Are you watching Chelsea? This is Liverpool F.C taking over the bloody world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
