Indeed, and I think he's over-rated in midfield too. I think he'd be a waste of good money.

I agree, get rid of Riise and replace him with some real quality, however, Barry is not that required quality at left back.

I've spoken to a friend of mine who is involved in the Villa set up about the various rumours and was told that the Carson for £10m rumour is accurate. So is the fact that Villa are looking at Riise in January (no idea about fee though). The Barry rumour doesn't appear to be true.

I'm sure that a few people may be skeptical about this, and of course it may change, so take it or leave it - I'm just a little excited that I actually have a way of checking things out for once!

I wonder what Villa would be prepared to pay for Riise? Wouldn't it be fantastic to take, say, £16m off their hands for Carson and Riise. Almost money for nothing.

Riise ought to fetch around £6m or so IMO - there are plenty of clubs daft enough.

The funds received for Carson and JAR would almost pay for Mascherano. Add to that Sissoko's likely departure, and we should have a proper WARCHEST for January.

It's a notoriously difficult time to buy top class players, but I'm looking forward to seeing how our transfer activity pans out.
