I'm holding back judgment on this interview.

Algemeen Dagblad seems to be a small-ish paper, probably with poor reporters, potentially paraphrasing in parts. Then Sky get hold of it and... well.. make it worse. Could be a problem with the translation or something, but we all know which club's supporters Sky like to wind up, don't we?

Anyone know if the original paper is credible? Anyone speak Netherlandish? Might be worth a linguist look over the original story and see if that quote reads the same in Dutch.

However, if he did say that..

I think there's been some misquoting going on, or at the very least some misinterpretation.

He's not struck me as a cocky sort so until i actually hear him saying it for myself, i dont believe he'd say something like that.

It's beyond that. We would all love to eat some of our words but barring some MIRACLE, whatever he does will not make him a top player. Therefore we would be happy to see him get better but he will always be an average player at best. Like I siad, barring something extraordinary. Scoring a few goals again will not make us forget about the fact that we don't think he's up to standard.

Sky reported it as if Kuyt said the whole squad but he said strikers, not squad, in the interview but he did said that he come out on top, which is just plain stupid.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I think this is the worrying bit.

If Kuyt's form this season is the best he can do then he shouldn't even be playing for Liverpool reserves.
I dont like slagging our boys off, but even I will put my hands up that as a striker at the end of the day you are judged by the goals you socre and he is just not doing it. I hope he does sort himself out and grab a few for the Dutch this week and come back a lot more confident.

Prior to the Besiktas game Kuyt was 4th in our Player of the Season thing that Morse runs. So going on "the fans" he's right in what he says.

The reality is of course that he got MoM I think for running his heart out 10v11 against Porto, whilst another for scoring two pens in anotherwise pretty awful display. And Torres has been injured, whilst Crouch hasn't had a fair shake. And two of Voronin's better games have been the last two.

There's not an LFC fan who thinks badly of Kuyt as he always gives 100% which is more than you can say for some players that have been at the club in the last 10-15 years. But that also doesn't make him good enough to play for us, as with Momo, there has to be more than just blood and guts.

I cannot believe he is happy with his form. He should be promising the manager and fans better performances. Look a babel, he is saying that we have not seen the best of him yet, that is exactly the sort of think Kuyt should be saying.

Maybe this is the best we'll see from Kuyt?? Regardless, he's not good enough for us imo.

To be honest, I'm more concerned if Rafa thinks Kuyt's been playing well rather than Kuyt patting himself on the back.

Dirk Kuyt's turn this week is it ? and he didn't even play.

We've had Gerrard should be sold, Sissoko is useless, Voronin is crap etc etc

You've also trashed Rafa a few weeks ago.

                                Supporters ????

Dirk Kuyt is a very good player he's just lacking a few goals but that'll come I'm sure. You can't just slag him off because of a dip in form, now we have an out and out goal machine in Torres I think that will help whichever partner he has with him Kuyt, Voronin or Crouch to get more goals.

On a more positive note, two players are standing out for me, Lucas and Babel, Rafa's bought some class there. Aurelio and Arbeloa must now be first choice players , Gerrard is playing well. The team is looking stronger and stronger.

The future looks good the future is Red.
