And how much does he want this window?Originally posted by AFII View PostThey didn't gave him £50m
£20m net or maybe £30m if you count in Kuyt which shouldn't be done because that £10m was probably included into the price for the club.
It'll probably amount to 50 million a year.
The thing is AFII, as I've no doubt you've been told before, when you sign a player for x million, it costs AT LEAST x million.
When you sell a player for y million, you see probably about 0.7-0.8 y in return.
So working out "Net spend" is not the full picture and is a little inaacurate.

I think there might be an element of truth in your last sentance.Originally posted by Red Chilli View PostNo one party comes out of this looking professional.
Disappointed with the Americans for feeling the need to release these statements to the press but I'm very disappointed with Rafa.
He never stops complaining that he hasn't got enough money. Maybe he should have joined Chavski or Madrid then, we haven't got a bottomless pit of cash and ULTIMATELY, all this money comes from the fans pockets.
I don't want LFC to be like Chavski, I'd rather we were like Arsenal, spending money wisely, improving players we already have and playing attractive football.
If Rafa needs 40-50 million a year to compete, maybe he's not the manager we thought he was.
Having said that, it IS a big gap to bridge. With the depth of squad now though, there's no reason why we should continue signing £6m squad players, so on that basis, £35m per year on 2 players (plus whatever's raised through sales) should be sufficient.

It's a good point mate (made by you and the previous lad).
And I agree that the Yanks should shut the f*ck up but I also think Rafa shouldn't contsntly be challenging the Yanks in the press.
I'm starting to look at Citeh with envy. Thaksin doesn't open his mouth, yet provide Sven with as much cash as he wants. (Just for the record I would never ever want Thaksin or anyone like him to take LFC over but he's doing it the right way).

stop talking out your pie holeOriginally posted by Le Chacal View PostIs it graceful from a manager to complain in the press all the time about the owners' lack of support? Especially when they gave you £50M to buy Torres and others to make the best LFC side in a decade..
I guess they didnt like that...

I am sorry mate they just cannot come out and say what he did in the public recently. Its not clever and they as owners need to rise above this ****. If Rafa is playing funny buggers tell us all about after you sack him but dont wash our ****ing dirty laundry out for all to see, those manc *******s will be pissing themselvesOriginally posted by Le Chacal View PostHave you read that in the S*n?

Do people want us to go down the Leeds route and put the future of the club in jeopardy by over-spending and under-achieving?
You can't blame the Americans for wondering if their investment in Rafa's transfers are going to pay off. He hasn't had a roaring success in the league so far.Originally posted by Gordon Brown

Ok, that's your read, I'll take it at face value.Originally posted by DJS View PostFirstly, what Gillett says in public isnt what i necessarily always deem to be the truth. The americans had a lot of PR to get right since they came, so they'll say what it takes. Pinch of salt material in the extreme.
As for the budgets, whether we get it this year or not, it still affects budgets and if the owners are concerned at losing out on £20m + then they WILL adapt budgets, and IMO they'll do this ASAP.
Agreed on the communication point, doing things through the press is an utter disgrace.
On budgets there are a million ways to plan these out and then a million ways to operate to account for contingincies.
To tell someone as smart as Rafa that we can't plan to spend any money until 2 weeks before we spend it is insanity. How the **** are they running the business? The Crushing Machine MKII

I dont disagree mate, but from G&H's point of view, they'd probably deem the prospect of CL elimination in December as being insanity too.Originally posted by SpeedyG View PostOk, that's your read, I'll take it at face value.

They'd have a valid point.

Don't you think it is shrewd to see how much money is potentially coming in before comitting yourself to a huge expenditure plan?Originally posted by SpeedyG View PostOk, that's your read, I'll take it at face value.

They want to see if we're going to qualify for the knockout stages of the CL first, which Rafa should have ensured before the last 2 weeks in December if he'd prepared the teams optimally.Originally posted by Gordon Brown

This whole thing makes me wonder why its happening again
Happened at Valencia, but Rafa was in the right
Same thing happening here, but Rafa's in the right
Not saying anything naturally, just throwning a point in the air.....I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"

Our CL group isnt hard. We SHOULD be sitting comfortably at the top of that group and Rafa should've ensured that happened. It hasnt and there are consequences.

I'm not sure Rafa is in the right, he has to learn that he hasn't got a bottomless pit of money and you don't criticise your boss in front of the British press.Originally posted by Fierce View PostThis whole thing makes me wonder why its happening again
