And we've had this article now reprinted in virtually every thread on the forum. Several times in some. Seriously though.

Ive always said Bascombe is a ****.
He's proved me correct time and time again.
"When a man insults my country I insult him, by taking his woman" Tony Yeboah
"looking through your posts since 2007 and what you have consistently written about my football team I have come to the conclusion that if you had 1 more brain cell you would be a plant .. your father was a hamster and your mother smells of elder berries, I fart in your general direction ..." Nicey

All I'm saying is that there is no proof that they have spent any money themselves so far. The money they spent was probably already there, the new TV deal and the money from the CL. Around £20m net isn't that much money.Originally posted by MrMichael View PostGood post that
Errr, ok, so any other potential, past or future owners wouldn't do anything of the sort. Remember the Mancs all kicking off about the Glaziers financing of their takeover? Shareholders UTD
Didn't hear too many of them complaining when Fergie got to spunk £80m or whatever on Tevez, Anderson, Nani and Hargreaves a couple of years later.
The only action so far, well, they've completely redone the plans for the new stadium, plans which, I should add, are now vastly improved to what was on offer before.
And they delivered our record signing Torres, plus two very talented (and pricey) youngsters, Babel and Lucas. Players whom you, AFII, described as "Rafa's first choices" yesterday.
That's not "very little action". So what, they're being a bit financially prudent and waiting to see what the situation is before committing to what people seem to expect to be an unprecedented level of spending mid season. Don't get me wrong, if they randomly sacked Rafa, that would be lunacy, and some of the things they have said have been pretty damn silly (as have some of Rafa's quotes too).... but some of the hyperbole on this forum of recent days is nothing sort of gobsmacking; we still don't know if this is all just a cultural misunderstanding being fanned by the usual media nonsense.
The new stadium plans look fantastic but yet again, they won't pay for it themselves so they don't take any chances with their money, it's the club that will go down if things go terrible wrong.
When they actually start to spend money themselves then is the time, at least for me, to say that they don't just talk the talk.
It's now and until the stadium is finished that they need to back Rafa up with money to sign players. When the stadium is finished then the new stadium will finance the transfer deals.
They have delivered plans for a new stadium, that's what they delivered so far, nothing more IMO.Just believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

£20m is a considerable amount of money. It just isn't fantasy money.Originally posted by AFII View PostAll I'm saying is that there is no proof that they have spent any money themselves so far. Only a few weeks ago it was looking like this season really could go 2 ways for Rafa, both on the pitch, and with the fans. A few bad results now, and it still might (though I suppose that would all be the owners faults now anyway). I'd be very interested to see how people on here would be reacting to all this now if we'd lost a couple of our recent games instead of winning them and playing better like we have. Wrongly so imo, I've always been behind Rafa as the right man for the club, but anyone without a really short memory can remember some of the posting on here only a month ago, people even talking about sacking him, Hell, I know of one ex-member here whose last words were "Rafael Benitez is ruining this club you morons" or something to that effect.......I could not dig, I dared not rob:

Its only natural for anyone to test their limits in their job, Rafa has been doing this with the new owners since Athens, he is very single minded and this is a major part of what makes him the success he is. He appears to have now understood how far he can potentially push his new paymasters until they make a point back.
Rafa has invested himself into Liverpool in a large way, he is not likely to walk away easily from us especially as he has bought the most expensive house in the area (was it 3mil?)
Now bascombe has come up with an article a day or so after Rafa makes his big point..... makes me think if a bit of info hasd been leaked to him indirectly from G&H (or parry) to make him think a little of what he could potentially lose.
All this said I see the situation playing out like this
next thing to happen, a good statement or story from G&H praising Rafa or hinting at some spending however a seed has been planted in the supporters and Rafa's mind on the quailities and strength of his new owners and a side effect of any potential signings clubs will be unsure as to how much money we actually have.
A few more good results though from a side that is starting to play well again and with some very important players coming back into the team I can see us starting the new year in the most positive manner I can remember with a team still in the CL a couple of very exciting signings, work starting on our new stadium and us right in the middle of the league race with all our players fit and in form due to rotation which will now actually work due to our better all round quality

Well, I have always backed Rafa. It would be stupid not to give him at least three more years to see what his rebuilding of the team from top to bottom will show for results.
If some of the young players he signed is good enough then he won't need that much money to spend.
Only time will tell.
Some of them may be ready sooner rather than later.Just believe and you never know what will happen.

Rafa must not be sacked, I am certain he can lead us to the title this season.Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.
* After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

TransAtlantic mind games. Rafa has been sending messages through the media regarding various managerial posts at Real, Bayern?, and even the England job, to try to put G+H on their toes. They have just done it back to him. About time they kissed and made up, because realistically they both need each other."I just felt that the whole night, the conditions and taking everything into consideration and everything being equal, and everything is equal, we should have got something from the game - but we didn't." - JOHN BARNES

bascombe and liverpool fc
i must admit ive defended the fella when he was hammered writing imo some decent articles for the echo.
on the few occasions ive spoke to him he seemed ok too
but im f uckin sick to death of every piece he has written since moving to notw being anti liverpool.
half the stuff is robbed off sites such as these and headlined "exclusive"
he may be right or wrong on maureen but he has gone well down in my estimation as a credible journo
