I think Rafa saw what the owners did when they came in, the flashing cash in interviews etc., and decided that if they were going to use the media like that then he would use it too. It's not the healthiest of ways of proceeding but if we keep performing on the pitch I can live with the off field nonsense.

I think Moores did a decent job of getting owners who would sort the stadium and progress the club while getting good money for the shareholders to be honest. I haven't seen any evidence that either Parry or Moores were deceived by anyone.

I think the PR was aimed at skeptical supporters and at trying to prevent a repeat of what happened when american owners took control at United. It was ill judged in the long term as I don't think they fully comprehended what spending big meant in European football terms.
