We are buying a player worth 30 million for 17M if we sign him on a permanent deal

He is a class act and once his future at Liverpol is settled he can only get better. A world class talent we must keep.

When you consider the likes of Owen Hargreave and Carrick cost more than £17M who are both sub standard footballers to Mascher then I would definately say he is worth the money. Look at his perfomance in the champions league final keeping the best attacking player in the world quiet, definately worth the cash and will only get better and better as he is still only in his early 20's

Do the Americans have apoint in not wanting to shell out 17mil for a player like Masher or should they back Rafa in everything he says?

Do we really need to break the bank for him since we already have a top midfield without him?

            Nic,

You raised a very good point mate but please dont put "discuss" at the end. We are not at school, if people want to join the debate they will.

            Many thanks

I don't think it's as clearcut as that. Xabi wasn't as high profile, which I guess has a big bearing on prices, as Mascher is now.
Saying that, Xabi was an absolute bargain.

And back on track. Yup, sign him up
Well, here we are in a room with two manky hookers and a racist dwarf. I think I'm heading home.

Surley that is the players worth, exactly what a club has to pay. Maybe the ham spanks want Rafa to find another Scabi or mommo, together the cost less than Mascher will

                    It's a no risk deal.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Typical Liverpool if we lose out on a World class player FFS whats their problem cant they see what a class act he is and 17 million these days is nothing for a player like that and the sooner the better they get into that mentality the better for us look at what splashing the cash on Torres gives us.

When you want the best you have to pay for the best simple as
When you feel like you're done, you are not alone........

That was then...this is now...how much is Xabi going to sell for now? What will Macher sell for in the future? Who cares? Rafa ( and I) want him and he seems to be worth it.

If the 'owners' pull wads out of their pockets on telly and talk about buying snoop dog (whatever) if Rafa wants - Macher's a bargain. I think their US 'rounders' players cost a lot more than that.

I'm fed up now and off to bed! Night all.

He's only 23, has 30 international caps in one of the best teams in the world, He is in my opinion one of the top 5 players in the world at what he does. I can see an improvement in his play in all the games he plays in. He's reliable and has a Carra attitude of giving 150%

The lad needs roots and I hope he sets them with us - he'll be a legend in years to come if he does

btw the mascher deal isn't the main reason Rafa spat the dummy out - it was a £4m deal for Kaka Kaladze
