Well, I see that as Momo plus 10 mil tops. Maybe less.

      Yes please.

On another note, how does one stayed logged in for more than 10 minutes on here, I don't want to be permanantly logged in like I am at home, but hate being booted every 10 mins if I don't post.

Sorry mate, but were the ****, or who the **** says that Xabi is worth 8.5Million? You are ****in off your tree lad and whoever "told" you this doesnt know the difference between Xabi and Xavi.

Anyway, Id cough up the 17m for Masher in a heartbeat. Sell Momo for 10m, Carson for 7.5m (We already recieved 2.5m from Villa) and there is the cash for possibly one of thee best players in that possition.

if we are to keep progressing we need to spend money like the scum and the chavs. now as an accountant i baulk at saying that but to win we need top class players. look at the difference torres has made. look at the money spent on ronaldo when he was younger. look at the money arsenal spent on the youngsters. look at what the chavs have spent.

now yes you need to spend it wisely but the top players cost alot more than those just below them in ability.

one other thing. if you point at the money we have paid for youngsters in the last window or so then i say that wenger had a couple of dodgy seasons in terms of achievment because of no money etc. If we dont give rafa the money then we need to be more patient.

you cant have your cake and eat it!

I'd like to think that should a deal be sanctioned for Mascherano and a centreback, then come the summer, we wouldn't be looking at many changes.

Therefore the net spend in the summer should be low, which will help the cause with the money men.

Hargreaves was bought for £18 million. Surely Mascherano is worth more playing at the highest levels of football and clearly being a better player. I think he is worth the value. Hopefully the board don't stick two fingers to Rafa. He is supposedly free according to a lot of people in May and so we need to move for him and get his wages sorted so he is a permanent fixture in the squad and can concentrate on his football. I couldn't imagine his wages being massive as it is, the Carson deal should give some leeway to that.

There is a poster on KT spouted lots of pro-Hicks rhetoric claims to be an associate of his, hes put that Rafa isnt part of the long term globalisation plan the new owners have anyway hes put a post up that I reckon is the best explanation for not pursuing the Mascherano deal

The issue is more about the nature of the deal, than about his ability. I think he's great but let's say for the sake of argument, there is a clause in his contract/ It states that if we sell him (for whatever reason) his current owners have first refusal at a very, very low price and that we must accept it, unless the player states otherwise, it makes sense not to do it!

You see the underlying problem for the owners is £17m paid out - value of asset, very, very low. It just becomes a loan deal by another name... Now imagine Rafa leaves (for whatever reason) and Mascherano wants out, as reported, Gillette and Hicks are out of pocket.

                    It's a bad deal then...

If Gillette and Hicks state this position to Rafa and he only sees the football part of the equation, you could have the start of a rift... LETS SAY!!!
                    Kind of makes sense

                        Interesting that, Lec.
It makes sense that Kia would hang in there. But is that allowed?

What doesn't make sense is the last sentence. Rafa is no fool and would definitely see the business part of the equation too.

Lecter, out of curiosity, do you honestly think the Tevez deal was structured that way? Manure did seek us out for advice on that deal I believe and i can't see we'd be blind to that kind of clause. Also I don't Rafa would agree to such a deal anyway, he wouldn't change his valuation for Alves for eg, so he can be very hard-nosed business wise as well...

For me these are just excuses for Hicks & Parry having their egos bruised. They're fooling noone, but will just be devaluing their own asset long-term..

I can actually believe that Rafa doesn't see things ina business way and only in football terms.
More importantly why are you still on theor Lec? and do you really believ that someone close to Hicks posts on Koptalk?
