I'm pretty sure I read that we f**ked up the loan agreement and do not have 1st option hence why Barca, Juve et al are hovering like vultures.

I read that as well one place. Everywhere else says we have 1st option, I think even Kia was quoted saying we had, so I belive we do.
People on here might not like Parry, but he`s not a complete idiot.

That's your choice but the stuff I'm hearing isn't coming from the national press, it's coming from people very close to the club.
If it happens to displease you, simply ignore it. If I was to post that I'd been told we were about to sign Kaka, you wouldn't be posting the stuff in bold would you? People on here only want to hear good news it's frankly hypocritical.

Yes it's all part of a huge conspiracy, Rafa's outburst about "focusing on coaching" was also part of this elaboratly staged conniving to make G and H look bad. Absolutely nothing is wrong with the club, the yanks aren't struggling to re-finance their loans, we're still building the super stadium they promised and rafa is completely safe. I can say this as their is no "concrete proof" to dispute it.

Either you think that this is all made up from scratch or you have to believe that someone in the club is leaking stories to papers like the telegraph and the local press.

You are of course quite within your rights to believe that's it's all the imaginings of a connected cabal of press. I would suggest otherwise.

Liverpool have delayed a decision on the designs for their new stadium as American owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett Jnr try to thrash out a refinancing deal for the club.

Following presentations from two firms of architects which ran late into the evening at a board meeting in New York on Tuesday, Liverpool were due to make an announcement on their revised plans for the move to their new home at Stanley Park last night.

But chief executive Rick Parry issued a statement yesterday saying that while good progress had been made, a final decision had been put off.

He insisted, however, that whichever design was chosen, the club would be getting an "excellent result".

Parry said: "It was a very full day. We had two very detailed and very informative presentations which were very thorough and extremely professional. It has been another big step forward to finding the best possible solution and the whole meeting was very constructive."

Hicks and Gillett ordered the review of the stadium plans after Dallas-based architects HKS overshot the budget for the new 70,000-seat arena by £50 million.

The American owners then asked them to scale down their plans at the same time as asking Manchester firm AFL to come up with their own designs. "A clear decision will be taken soon," said Parry. "They were both very good in terms of coming closer to the right solution."

The reality for Hicks and Gillett is that they cannot choose a final stadium design until they have a clearer picture of how they are to finance that, plus £270 million of loans taken out last February to pay for their acquisition of the club.

Talks are ongoing with the Royal Bank of Scotland and American bank Wachovia about a new £350 million refinancing but have stalled after concerns over the amount of debt being placed on the club's books. There have also been question marks over the amount of cash being pumped into the refinancing by Hicks and Gillett.

Since the new year, the Americans have become more confident of clinching a deal before the one-year loan with RBS expires. One option being discussed by the banks is to lend money to the club to fund the start of work on the stadium project at the same time as offering Hicks and Gillett breathing space to raise new investment to help refinance the club acquisition.

Although the future of manager Rafael Benitez is certain to have been on the agenda during the meeting in New York, there was no comment from the club on the Spaniard yesterday.

It has taken too long, but the right decisioin has to be made. If that takes 2 more weeks, so be it.

I would be very disappointed if they didn't get a sponsored name for the new stadium. We need the money from it and will give Rafa, if he stays, a lot more possibilities in the transfer market.

It's not about just debts mate. The complete business plan stinks. They bought the club because it was an 'opportunity' for them to invest into football, without them having a ****ing clue what to do next. This is enough for me not to have confidence in them.

If they were as strong financially, do you feel they would have struggled to take as much time to raise money ?

If someone meant business, all should have been in place to take this club forward as quickly as possible. The way it was done, was a total lack of professionalism.

Until I hear that we're a) not getting a stadium b) the one we're getting is a poxy 55k all seater - probably like the one we would have got in 20 yrs under Moores/Parry c) Rafa is definitely getting sacked for upsetting Hicks d) Rafa is getting no money to spend this Jan transfer window....until any of the above materialises I WILL GIVE THE YANKS THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT.
