Apparently (yes i know, but i still have the occasional snippet).........this 'competition' is merely to apease various money types, and the intention is to build the HKS design whatever....................as i say, apparently.

I could see another planning app with a dif design really annoying the council and planning office as they would feel they are being messed about.

We only have two plans,the old one(which is being reconcidered) and the new one.Both have planning permission.i can`t see any problems with the council.

A new planning app with 70,000 seats would be a new full planning app due to a major change. If you worked in the planning office and for the council and had spent time considering, Warren Bradley spent time bigging it up and then we put yet another app in for a diff design (original style but bigger foot print, changes to number of people etc how would you feel about it. A new app on the present design with only changes inside to number of people would be better received.

I hope that al makes sense as it did in my head.

I'm praying you're right. Not sure why the money men will be satisfied with the competition if we are just going to choose the much more exorbitantly expensive design anyhow but there you go.

The present app is for 60,000. They are planning a new app at some point, speculated to be once building begins for high 70s.
A new plan like this would mean a new app and going back to the begining and another several month wait.

Perhaps Yozza or Bazza could confirm this but because the original design was already approved and we have since had a 70,000 stadium application granted I reckon it should just mean a variation to the planning consent.

We never got granted permission that I am aware of for a 70,000 seat stadium.

FYI RS4.....Heard today from someone connected to the project that the Yanks are 'looking at' a 3rd option for the stadium. Seems that Option 2 is going to be a bit too expensive.

I hope they're wrong, but it does back up your info I'm afraid.

I've not heard anything else today as I've been at the match but my take on all this is that the AFL re-design is a fall-back option if Statler & Waldorf can't raise the finance for the HKS stadium.

They probably reckon most fans will still be happy if they announce in a couple of weeks that they want to give Rafa more funds in the transfer market to push for Number 19 yet still have a 70,000+ capacity from the cheaper design.

Agree wholeheartedly. Massive Own Goal if they can't deliver the new design they've promised us, irrespective of how they might dress it up.

We only get one chance to get the stadium right, if that means we have to tighten the purse strings for a few seasons and tie the manager's hand then unfortunately it's a sacrifice we have to make. The nonsensical decision to initially go for a 55,000 stadium so that Houllier could have more money to spend in the transfer market is more proof if it were needed that in certain areas Parry is incompetent and needs to be gotten rid of, or at least have his responsibilities redefined.

There's no doubt that what your mate says is the truth, but I simply cannot see that scenario coming to fruition. Most fans have already turned on Hicks over these Bentiez sacking rumours - wrongly IMO, without knowing all the facts - this will only make G+T more unpopular with their detractors.

I mean we take the piss over the bitters moving that concrete Tesco bowl in Kirkby, but we'd be a laughing stock if the bosses suddenly reneged on the good design for one that's less good.

Or maybe they just don't care? But I doubt that as well. Keeping us, the fans, happy is crucial to their investment success.

And surely this would set back the planning process as well? Liverpool city council have been complete ****houses over this whole process.
