I was going to say the same thing Diego... But I'll also add..that I cannot understand some of our support... have a bad game and the knives come out...Nobody like defeat, but For Fcuk sake I am 40 years supporting the club and we have to experience the bad days to enjoy the good ones, blimmey we have had hundreds in the past, but we are still the most decorated club in British Football..

There's no reason why we had to lose to any of Reading/Marseille/Man Utd!

People seem to be defending Rafa under the belief that to beat Marseille/Man Utd, then we had to lose to Reading or if we beat Reading then we would've lost to Marseille/Man Utd. I'm sorry but we're Liverpool, we should be beating Reading & then Marseille & why not Utd as well?

But surely even the most optomistic of fans realises that no matter who you are, or how good for that matter, you sometimes lose matches for whatever reason?

What was i thinking? i for a while thought this may just be our year, finally the holy grail, the Premiership. Yes it is. It's clear that the wide players (and the wide cover we have) aren't good enough. Of Kewell, Babel, Pennant & Benayoun only a fit Kewell is good enough for our 1st 11 right now. Now that says something, and i've been saying it for a few years now. And Rafa didn't correct it in the summer..we got Babel instead. And for all the positives he has brought us, width isn't one of them.

But 2 big performances in the next 8 days are a must to keep our season on track.

The reasons we lost
Baffling team selection - Voro and Crouch in wide postions, looked like fish out of water
Referee - Was never a penalty for them but equally neither were our 2 Torres claims. Carra was lucky not to get booked which would have put him out of next weeks game.
Unlucky - 2 shots off the woodwork, particulary SG's at 2-1

All in all this performance although unlucky at times wasn't good enough.
As usual we lacked width and as usual our only real goal threats were SG & Torres. Crouch needs good service from wide positions and there was little.
At the back Hobbs did ok on debut but we looked at 6's & 7;s at times.

This defeat, whilst not terminal puts a massive dent in our title assault. 7 points off Arsenal leave us with no margin for error. A massive week coming up. 2 wins and its all systems go, 2 losses and its season over. Massive 2 games.

The players need to understand that people will be boosting us up to win the title. The stupid 21 in 5 mantel did us. Rafa needs to tell them that don't believe the hype. Its what the press do. They boost you up high and they will drop you lower than the seas.
