Seems weird to me that they'd release this statement, but without clarifying that the manager's position is secure and safe.

Either confirm he's safe, or dont release a statement.

Agree, it is a statement IMO that adds nothing and clarifies nothing. At least Rafa should know where he stands.

They must have started near straight after the match, that was a quick meeting. I'd have expected 5/6 hours from such a big one like that. Sort everything out

I agree but the answer is simple, Rafa gobbed off on TV.

Lets be honest it's a **** statement that says nothing really.

"All those present are united in their desire to bring further success to the club."

No ****? The owners and employees of LFC want the club to be successful? **** me, what a revelation.

It'll be interesting to see how that turncoat Bascombe spins this one.

Same goes for all those net know nothing cunts insiders.

This is a row thats simply simmering away. to move forward rafa wants and indeed needs either money or the freedom to sell who he wants and use that money to buy. Either G&H allow him that freedom, give him some money, or have the balls to sack rafa. Otherwise this will just continue in the background.
                Agreed.

They need to decide once and for all, do they have faith in Rafa? If so back him with the funds he needs. If not, have the balls to sack him but be prepared to incur the wrath of the fans and put aside a huge wad of cash for Rafa's pay off plus to back the new manager with the funds needed to take the club forward.

The best they would say is something along the lines of "we fully support the manager" no one ever says "we're not going to sack the manager". Hopefully, everyone can just let it rest now. Bascombe has proved himself to be wrong.

                    I agree.

Its a nothing statement and wont kill any gossip. They could have easily have said something like, 'G&H are 100% behind the manager and will support him in any transfer dealings in the future'. Instead we get nothing we havent really heard before. 'All those present are united in their desire to bring further success to the club.' That should be a ****in given not something we need telling.

It's more positive though due to the way it's been worded.

Means Rafa's job is safe unless he makes more outbursts in the media.

I hate losing to the Mancs especially in the manner that we did, but it may not be a bad thing in the sense that it showed the owners that Rafa needs to bring in more quality.

The proof in the pudding will be the Masch deal and a defender at least needed in January.

It could mean that either of the parties step down in the morning if it's to be the best to ensure the success of the club.

I'm worried about what I'll hear before bed tonight or when I wake up tomorrow

I always thought the chairmans vote of confidence was tantamount to 'dead man walking'...

On the evidence of this statement I think its a case of wait and see.

Will be interesting to see Rafa's comments at the next PC pre-Chelsea!

Rafa did gob off on TV, but he revealed nothing and criticised no one. It is only Gillett and Hicks' statement released later that day that revealed what was going on and I'm sure was intended as a public rebuke and to put him under pressure. As Hansen said, it's not the Liverpool way to play these things out in public, and as far as I'm concerned the yanks have been as guilty as anyone if not more so in ensuring this spat has been highly publicised, almost as if they deliberately wanted it to be.

Rafa was wrong, but the Americans need to learn quickly about our club, traditions and the way we do things.

Absolute rubbish mate. Rafa took the argument public and the criticism was overtly implied if not explicit. This should never have gone public.

Maybe he saved his job by going public then it was the right thing to do. The point is that we don't know so it's pointless to say that he should/shouldn't have gone public.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.
