We have let ourselves down as a club this season with all this internal bickering and Stadium changes. The common element is two old men. This season has been far from memorable so far and I just hope this meeting will put things to rest so that we might actually achieve something great again. Being the 3rd or 4th best team in the PL is beginning to grate. I want my kids to experience the joy of us winning the league again.

i got a text off a mate who was at the game today. He saw rafa leave the stadium at around 7pm and he didnt look happy. There were a few people asking rafa for autographs and he simply stormed past them without acknowledging their presence.....he also looked well pissed off...

when i went onto the official site and saw the headline, i was convinced he was gone.......nearly shat myself!!!

Maybe he saved his job by going public then it was the right thing to do. The point is that we don't know so it's pointless to say that he should/shouldn't have gone public.

my initial reaction is that he wouldnt blank supporters either man.......i am simply passing on what i was texted.....

i must say though, that overall this statement is simply going to increase speculation further and bring more rumours etc. It was stupid ****ing speculative innuendo from the yanks that started this whole ****in thing in the first place - they need to come out and say that they "BACK RAFA 100% - WE WILL TRY OUR UPMOST TO ENSURE THAT HE HAS THE TOOLS TO BRING SUCCESS TO LIVERPOOL FC" pure and simple.......... where the **** is the tom hicks that craved all the publicity when they took over the club - where is the guy that went on itv the day of the cl final and said that he was going to give "roffa" all the money he could to buy any player he wanted.........and when the interviewer asked him..."regardless of the price" he simply said............."yes"

Another way of saying that is that he should put his own interests ahead of the club's. If he needs to do that then his job is already untenable.

Will Rafa have any decent cash to spend and if he does will he be able to spend it as he sees fit.

Liverpool FC issued the following press statement on Sunday night.
A meeting was held this evening involving Tom Hicks, George Gillett, Foster Gillett, Rick Parry and Rafa Benitez which was wide ranging and positive.

The discussions were amicable and constructive. All those present are united in their desire to bring further success to the club.

Atleast they are trying to slightly calm the situation. I do wish however, the club would come out and say, Rafa's position is not in question and we will continue to back him to the best of our ability.

Liverpool.no was present during a "former Liverpool player" dinner after todays game, and Gillett was present. This is the most important things he said:

"Rafa is the man we want as manager and he's got our support"
"I've been married for 40 years and know how to deal with an argument"
"Our squad is better then last year and we want to build on that. This work has just only began"
"The transfere window is coming up, and we may, or may not take advantage of it"
"Liverpool is a huge club. Its not our club, its the supporters club and thats how it will always be"

The best they would say is something along the lines of "we fully support the manager" no one ever says "we're not going to sack the manager". Hopefully, everyone can just let it rest now. Bascombe has proved himself to be wrong.

That's the point though, they didnt actually say they support the manager, which is why i still think he's going to be sacked, but not til the end of the season.

If they give him no money to spend in January, that'll be telling.
