Forgive me for not reading through the whole thread, but the point is we can rant and have a moan in these forums but when it comes to supporting Liverpool I am sure every single et1892 member is 1000% behind the team, either at the matches or watching on TV.

At the end of the day i think some fans are over frustrated due to the fact that we never really look like beating any of the other big teams. We could of played another 90 mins yesterday and not look like turning the game around but despite this we should never of been in the position where we couldn't really afford to lose that game. To win the title we need to beat Brum and Spurs at home, Reading and Blackburn away, that's where our nine points are right there and until Rafa and the players learn this we will have to settle for fighting for a top 4 spot and if i can't show my disappointment at that situation then it's a sad day indeed.

I just think it's clear we need some more quality to consolidate all the positive work we are doing in games. I think we looked good against Chelsea, and I don't think we played that badly yesterday either - but if Torres isn't putting them in then I don't really see any of the other strikers doing it, and Kuyt certainly wasn't up to the job (not that I want to start this one again!).

A quality striker to compliment Nando and I think we would be in far better shape.

I think Babel should be playing behind Torres as the 'second' striker. We need to bring in real quality on the wings (how many years have we said this for now!), Kewell looked like what he is yesterday i.e a player who has spent the past 3 years fighting one serious injury after the next. Pennant probably isn't quite there in terms of consistent ability a good squad player and Yossi, although good for some games doesn't play wide in order to stretch teams. The Mancs were there for the taking yesterday but we lacked quality and creativity in wide areas to really stretch them.

I understand your sentiment but they never looked like scoring either. We should of scored first, but we didn't.

We are not that far away.

I completely agree, although I am a fan of Pennant (regardless of his sparce goal-scoring record). We looked to have a chronic lack of pace when we were trying to bring the ball forward and Kewell simply can't beat his man the way he used to. In saying that, the scum didn't get much joy in that area and I think both teams pretty much cancelled each other out - yesterday is not the game to be looking at for identifying problem areas.

One thing I will say, though; whilst Mascherano was excellent at retrieving possession I thought he was rather poor in retaining it and utilising it. Alonso, partnered by Javi, would have given us so much more in terms of creativity and passing ability. All in all, I don't know why people are going so hari-kari over the game - bad result, obviously, but from where I was sitting I thought we did OK considering Wonderboy was having his annual bad game and the defense was nothing short of superb bar one incident of inaction. If we give them a spanking at the Toilet (which we need to) then we will have laid this one to rest.

I thought to myself after the game a fit Pennant would of been valuable yesterday. I am sure he would of at least put a few balls into the box and lets face it, VDS was having a mare. We didn't capitalise on that.

Its a matter of opinion whether Torres was tv revenue and CL dosh or would have happened anyway thru H&G benevolence. They made all the right noises about squad improvement . Torres and Babel are obvious improvements and if they sanction similar spending in summer we are building a first class squad. Gillette has even said over the weekend that the squad has a long way to go so he acknowledges at least the deficiencies we have.

As you pointed out we dont have the revenue streams yet so personally I dont care if the stadium is revised again as long as it is built quickly so we can generate the $$ for players and move into a more competitive financial league. Other teams like City are catching up remember they already have a new stadium and the owner seems prepared to spend like a drunken sailor.

I think we have a right to be dissapointed that we drop games against teams like Reading and Birmingham at home and then lose to Man U. Im hurting but will never give up on the team.Genuine improvement demands that those games are won and thats what frustrates me the most. We have made progress though, we would have beaten Chelsea except for a stupid ref and we all but beat Arsenal, the reserves are on top and we have some real exciting young talent. I just hope Rafa gets the time needed and some extra $$ to build his dynasty.
Some good points in there, carlton, but Citeh don't own their new stadium; it's owned by the City of Manchester City (hence the official name and it's nickname "the council house"). Therefore it doesn't generate any additional revenue for the club and Citeh have to pay rent for the privilege of playing in that wonderful atmosphere...

I think you're incapable of reflective thought. You're like a small child who indulges his every "feeling" and insists it's his "democratic right" to dump the drivel on the rest of us.

The fact is by your continuous bleating and slagging of the manager and player you undermine the club. THIS HAS GOT ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH FEELING BAD ABOUT A DEFEAT.
I think the highlighted part sums up every LFC forum I've come across after a poor result.

We're all very pissed off about the game, you want to have a go at those that have had a bad game, and generally get it all off your chest. This is where two groups emerge IMO. One group is straight on the pc "Riise's ****, Kuyt can work hard but we don't need someone to pull a cart around Anfeld, we'll never win the league with Rafa," bla bla bla. The second group feels just as frustrated at Riise, Kuyt and the result but take the time to put it all into perspective and maybe even stay away from the pc for a day or two so that when they do come to give their opinion it's of a much more balanced nature.

For me there's nothing less pleasurable after a poor result than reading forums and generally taking in the purile crap of someone that can't control their frustration. I just don't bother but as Tom says a lot of people feel the need to indulge every ounce of emotion that the match has created and places like this are perfect to do that. Can'r blame them for it but it takes a good few days for the ****e to clear and for any forum to become worth reading again.
