After watching the Chelsea game last week i have once again reviewed my opinion of Sissoko. PLaying alongside Alonso he looks really good as Alonso always makes himself available for a simple pass and has a very calming influence on players around him, i noticed Sissoko giving the ball up too Xabi early doors and than growing in confidence. On the other hand i think Momo gets nervous when he plays in midfield with Stevie G, with his thunderous runs and direct style maybe we play at too quick a pace for Momo. Thoughts?
Good post. Should be carefully read by all the buffoons with their lazy, bandwagon opinions. Somebody who has put in the monster performances we've seen from Momo doesn't suddenly lose his ability. Its about bringing out the best in him. Maybe though our preferred style means that will happen less here than elsewhere.
I'm playing all the right notes. Not necessarily in the right order. I'll give you that, sunshine.

Momo was okay defensively on Wednesday but he gave the ball away and did his comedy standing on the ball in the opposition box. He also started jogging around after we went behind and I felt showed a lack of effort.
Rafa's determination to field a second striker who drops deep into midfield has contributed to Momo being exposed more because it means he has to get forward and attempt to do things he is incapable of executing.
If we are financially in the **** then selling him to finance the purchase of Mascherano makes sense to me. Xabi does appear to be a bit injury prone but we have Lucas, Gerrard and others who should be able to cover if we have an injury or two. The only reason to keep him would be if Mascherano is unobtainable and even then he's still not really good enough for a title-contending side.
Apart from falling over the ball in the Chelsea penalty box he also went walkies for their 2nd goal when there were 2 Chelsea players bearing down on our penalty area, sell him ASAP, we have enough central midfielders and the money will come in handy.

He had an OK game against Chelsea ie. he didn't win the usual wooden spoon award but to review your opinion of Momo based on one game is knee jerk in the extreme. He's clearly not at the required level and I think if we need to keep proper world class players like Mascherano then we have to sell the medicre players in the squad and that would include Momo.

get shot
its a no brainer:
even at his best, hes behind SG/Masch/alonso/lucas
hell command an inflated fee
his type of player are widely available if injuries make us short in future
i think that momo needs a good run of games to get back into form..Like any other player.
If you remember crouch when he first signed.. piss poor and everyone slagging him off, then two goals against Wigan (technically 1) and he became a good player, all through Rafa's faith. I still think Momo IS BOSS, but then again we do need the money to sign mascherano . But who would cough up the goods? Juventus? they were willing to pay £10million + for him last summer, but what would they want to pay for him now he's 5th in the pecking order?
Lets remember what momo was all about, i think it may change a lot of your minds!

I tend to agree and have defended Momo (in a qualified sense) all season. the problem is we really can't have players who are only good enough if played with certain other players in the long run as injuries are inevitable and if the 'partner' player is injured then this effectively reduces the squad by two rather than one.
I have also thought that at times Mascher & Momo have combined well but we don't have strong or pacy enough players to put ahead of them to make a well balanced team with them in IMO.
On a different point I do think that Gerrard does seem to affect the way a lot of other players approach the game when he is in the middle. This is not always for the best. He does seem keen to learn what Rafa wants from him in the centre but at present he still seems to be a bit mechanical and not very intuitive in executing his plans and too often others try to compensate for my liking.

I posted something similar last week mate. There was a time when Momo was Boss and had huge potential to be an awsome midfield enforcer*. After the injuries he hasn't really recovered his form but the effort is there for all to see. Rather than agree with the vast majority on here (again) - I'd love us stick with Momo and help him develop into the player we all thought he could be two years ago.
*For those who feel top class clubs should not have 'enforcers' I noticed Barca and Madrid had Tourre and Diarra respectively playing last night.
In a nutshell, he's a poor man' Masher. Masher can do everything he can to an even better standard and will also hold onto posession and avoid giving aay stupid frees.
We have 4 central mids ahead of him and I'd say teams would be willing to pay 8mil or so, so selling him is most definitely the way to go.
