Don't think making a fairly rational prediction that the Manc's will win the title this year is in anyway conceding the title. I personally think they are strong favourites but be ****ed if I will concede it to them. We still have a chance and if they slip up I hope it is us waiting for the fall.

Realistically though we need to get positive result from OT, the Emirates and SB and that will not be easy.
Nah. He won't win the Prem. You can quote me on that. - Sarb24

I do agree with him anyway though because as we've seen, in the article that's just been printed, the press will turn these quotes sound like whatever they want. Hick's a HICK UP ?

Does Hicks in his interview with Sports Illustrated sound as though he thinks he knows better than Rafa, why even open old wounds with comments like these. Accusing him of pouting, why ? I really fear this man could hold us in limbo for another god knows how many years. Although DIC were my preference, i have taken to Gillette, Hicks however seems a little up himself.

More from the distant poor relatives across the water i see, Every time i see him i'm embarrassed, it amazes me how fans dont see through him after the stadium farce. If he can waste millions on plans for a new stadium then unveil them to one & all to the sound of fanfare & cheers then whip em away into thin air with hardly an apology to the expectant fans well hey, sound sincere to you?? Now he's after calming the waters for the unveiling of the 'revised stadium plans'. THE BOWL.

Hicks have told Rafa to shut up and he should do the same. You can't expect that it will work if the owner one day tells the manager to stay out of the business side of things and tell him to concentrate on the coaching and training bit and the next day the owner starts to ask questions about tactics on the pitch.

What next? Hicks to do a Roman and tell Rafa and the players which tactic they will use before the game?

If Hicks talks about tactics then Rafa have every right to talk about business and ask questions about how G&H takes care of our business.

In short, Hicks, please shut up.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Where did he do this? I thought he said something along the lines of there was a lack of belief but didn't say a word about tactics.

I think its naive on Hicks part with that quote. He gave the interview to American media probably not knowing that his words could be interpreted another way by the British media,as Mr Edwards has just proved.

None of us know what way he actually meant it.It was his personal honest view,it was a view given to him by Rafa or it was a deliberate attempt to undermine the manager.Only Hicks knows for sure so he'll now have to come out with a retraction or a statement clearing up what he really meant. Its another lesson in how the media work over here,as opposed to the states, and I doubt he'll find this one as funny.

No matter what the Yanks say people will always pick holes in their comments and focus on the negatives. It's irritating beyond belief. Why aren't people focusing on his more positive comments regarding how he intimated that there are no problems between him and Rafa and the press made it up?

As far as I'm concerned lets wait and see what we do in the transfer window and more importantly in the summer when it comes to transfers. Unless we have a catastrophic season, by that I mean end it trophyless and out of the top 4 I believe Rafa will still be our manager next season.

i still dream of 19 but believe the fa cup is our best chance now of silverware this season.

lets hope rafa is still manager come next season or i honestly believe we will go back five years through re-building !!!

do you believe we will see much activity in jan ??
"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

I wouldn't count us out of the CL. With our experience in the competition, the fear factor Anfield holds over our opponents, Rafa's masterful tactical ability in Europe and players like Gerrard and Torres firing on all cylinders I'd fancy us over two legs against any side in Europe (except the Scum )

As for this Jan, I have a feeling Rafa will bring in a couple of players, both probably defensive reinforcements but I doubt we'll spend that big. I'm hoping we sell Carson and Momo during the transfer window to pave the way for Mascherano's signing in the summer...

Don't know if this has been posted....

Liverpool owner Tom Hicks has accused Anfield manager Rafael Benitez of behaving petulantly in the recent dispute over transfer policy.

The American also fears the players were suffering from an inferiority complex in the recent defeat to Manchester United.

The comments, in an interview with American magazine Sports Illustrated, risk reviving the tension between Benitez and Hicks and his co-owner George Gillett.

Hicks, 61, revisited the row over transfers, which saw Benitez publicly accuse the American duo of failing to understand the European transfer market.

'We wanted to see what we could do with the players we had already bought,' said Hicks. 'We just wanted to see if the team was going to gel. Then he (Benitez) went to a press conference and kind of pouted and answered in the same way 20 times: 'I'm focusing on my team.'

'The media made up everything from that point forward. They made up that we were going to fire him, that I told him to shut up, that there was a battle between Benitez and the Americans. It's really funny to watch.'

Hicks was dismayed at the players' attitude against United at Anfield when a 1-0 defeat left Liverpool way off the pace in the Premier League title race.

He said: 'Our team played like they mentally didn't think they were good enough to win. They played tight.'
