Post match - Man City (a)

Massively frustrating game. They played well, and were smart. I don't think there's much to criticise in our performance tbh, we did everything we could, just couldn't get the break through. A couple more quality attacking players are needed long term to ensure this kind of thing happens less frequently, but for now we work with what we have. Unless something significant is abound for this transfer window. Last 3 league games - 7 points, which is what you need to be getting really. But right now it's just ****ing frustrating, especially given we're playing catch up in this race and we could've capitalised on the scummers dropping points.

Totally. Decent performance with no cutting edge.

        Torres very poor today.

Don't want to see any knee jerks after this game. Ball just wouldn't go in the net, it happens. Playing against a side that pack the defence is our weakness and has been for a while.

I'm logging off until the wigan game anyway, can't be arsed with the overreactions that will undoubtedly rule this place for the next couple of days.

                Chance missed

Can't criticize anyone for us not winning. Thought everyone played well.

Credit to City though they defended well.

We were the better team throughout the match, really pressed them in the 2nd half, Aurelio put in a world class performance and we had great chances to win.

But our two key players, Gerrard and Torres, weren't sharp enough today. I'm disappointed with the result, but looking at City's record at home, we really made them look average. Our performance as a team, especially when you consider the CB situation, was top class.

                    I thought Finnan was excellent

                    Agree about Torres and Gerrard.

Disappointing result, but we were very good today. Man City were excellent in defense - can we buy Dunne and Richards?!

Yes, Torres had one of his "newcastle" performances.
But then they've 2 great defenders.

****in annoyed as ****e with that headed chance by Kuyt.

WHEN will he EVER emphatically finish a chance that's begging to be buried.

                      That'd should have been it

Babel should have been on from 60 onwards and it would have been won.

We need more match winners. Today again showed that we need to splash the cash on another Torres class player upfront.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I agree, Dunne and Richards saved Citeh today .............. but we still should have smashed them.

Good performance anyway, let's move on to the next match.

0-0 is quite a poor result. We must beat teams that have no intention of beating us.

We should be able to break down teams that defend deeply in numbers. I believe this problem is solved tactically - in other words we have sufficiently capable personel to do this.

                            Disappointed but optimistic.

I know it's only one game but Torres disappointed me today, his touch was ****.
Gerrard was crap but then again he was playing against a decent side so it that such a surprise.
Though Aurelio was excellent, Masherano had a great 2nd half and even Kuyt to be far played a bit better, certainly in terms of his first touch. Benayoun looked our only attacking player that wanted to get the game by the stuff of the neck and win it for us, he's getting better and better.
