This works against top teams when we can sit back and counter but when we play teams that want to defend it seems like the team doesnt know what to do and we just pass the ball around the back.

I think the squad is actually good enough to win the league but the manager needs to concentrate training more on liverpools strengths then the other teams weakness.

I have been saying for over a year that I don't think Rafa was the man for us in the league and tonight was just the latest performance to re-inforce that belief.

I'm sure he wont mind though, picking up his fat cheque and the likely fat pay-off he'll get when he parts company with Tom and George.

He would be the last manager I would want, if rafa goes I would want to see someone coming in who will play attacking football.Mouriniho bought a lot of average players at chelsea and him and rafa are very similar in style and rafa is the better out of the two.

Rafa sent that team out, most of us would have gone 3-4-3 at home versus teams such as Wigan, just as other top teams do, so he and he alone has to carry the can for tonight.

Why is he that stubborn when it comes to PL matches, everyone and his dog can see what is wrong, consistency in the team & the results needs to be key, yet he 100% ignores that each & every time and it backfires more often than not, yet we all know what will happen for the next match.

Just as chopping & changing the team is not working, neither is doing the same to the manager going to work, yet just what is the solution, something has to give - either Rafa himself or his continued obsession in being over-tactical and not putting a winning run together over a long sustained period.

Are we content with being the best of the rest, can Rafa really win us the league, if we are being honest?

I feel it's a long time to wait for 2009 already and dreading the scum winning the title in the mean time

If he goes, we need an attack minded manager. we need a manager who puts the emphasis on attack and ha an eye for quality in the final third, preferably a former striker.

thats awful harsh... i doubt his skill as a english domestic manager but you cant fault the guys passion for his job or for liverpool.

rafa will never win us the premiership. todays lineup was disgraceful. If i wake up tomorrow to hear he's been sacked i would be disappointed BUT we would be closer to competing for the title than we ever have or ever will under rafa.

i want him gone, the sooner the better. to all those who will no doubt disagree with me and some other similar minded posters when is enough enough?

against ****ey wigan i would have gone with 4 up front (2 strikers and 2 wingers) and steam rollered them....rafa is ****ing wierd and stubborn and negative with his tactics....will never win the premier with him in charge....fact.....**** OFF AND TAKE KYUT, PENNANT, RIISE, VORONIN, CROUCH, WITH YOU!!!

I was talking generally, not just a former LFC striker

G&H will now have the perfect excuse to sack Rafa.

Either G&H sell up or they back Rafa in a big way in the transfer market. That is more or less the only options they have if Rafa stays if they want us to challenge for the title.
AF, I actually think you may have hit the nail on the head.

                            1) IF G & H REALLY DO think Rafa is the manager for us in the long term then they will realise that the team needs serious, serious investment for us to cut it in a title challenge.

                            2) IF they wanted an excuse to sack Rafa - this is it. Out of the title race by the New Year after the best start for 10 years or more...if we go out of the CL to Inter I really will be expecting the axe.

Either way, in a starnge sort of way..this result could actualy change things for the better..either Rafa gets the $$$$ he needs or we get a new manager who can get us to perform in the League.

Then of course there are the other 2 worse options:

                            1) we get a manager who could do it , but is handed a shoestring budget too

                            2) 1) we get a manager who can't do it , and is handed a shoestring budget as well
