I usually try to stay out of post match debate when I return home but tonight was the first time in the kop I have heard most of the lads (and the few girls ;-) ) around me start to lose faith in Rafa, lads I would never have dreamed of hearing them say it. The tide is turning against Rafa I feel, it is still split but another home performance and setup like that at home and that'll be it I'm afraid.

I ****ing love the guy but it is getting ****ing hard to defend his decisions. 4-51 at home against any team is a ****ing disgrace and INEXCUSABLE! Can anyone offer an explanation to why he done this. Apologies if someone has already, I haven't read the thread fully.

Also, Crouch should of been on at 60-65 mins. What is he meant to do with 6 mins? Although saying that I suppose its debatable what he would of done if he played from the start.

I also agree with Charlesmanson, how do you explain taking off your RW a few mins after putting Crouch on? How is that ever going to work?

Like I said I love the guy, as do the lads I sit with at the game, but how do we defend or explain the two decisions mentioned above. I just hope this is a glitch and he can turn it around, but I'm starting to lose faith he can. I have seen tonights game too many times now.
Good heartfelt post mate. I feel exactly the same. Just got back myself - and I'm totally gutted. I could punch Rafa for the team/formation he played today. I told Mattshark from here that I didn't like it before the kick off and I was proved correct. I was also screaming at the team to go for the second goal to kill the game and yet they (carra especially!) were content to ferry the ball across the pitch all the time giving Wigan time to fall back into line.

      Too slow, too static, unimaginative.

The tide has turned against Rafa now. Anybody who was at the match will tell you that.

That's what Mourinho has spent in just one summer! In a team that finished 2nd. Rafa took Houllier's garbage and signed players on a tight budget for 3 years. In the only summer he had the luxury to sign someone expensive he went and got us Torres. You make absolutely no sense at all.

But you have to understand, not everyone lives in the perfect world you live in where we all love each other. The majority of the kop booed the players off the pitch...same kopites who chanted Rafa's name for long periods of the game.
I can understand the frustration but I don't think you have the necessary perspective when you're watching the match at the stadium, that's probably why I seem to be living in a perfect world. Why can't you accept that ?

If you want success NOW you'll need to outspend them, that is clear. Don't you think there's competition to buy the best attackers, midfielders or defenders from the same clubs ?

Wenger won the double in his first full season. More of an achievement than the Champions league IMO as it was his first full season in those competitions, which cannot be said of Rafa in 2005.

I bet those saying Crouch isn't good enough will be all too quick to mention how Rafa's league efforts in 2005-2006, when Crouch was integral to the side, is proof he knows what it takes to compete in the domestic scene.

We had balance at the end of 2005-2006 but the injury to Harry and some dreadful purchases halted us in our tracks. Pennant, Kuyt, Bellamy, Aurelio, Gonzalez - Can someone point to the player in there who long-term is going to be a wise investment for us? And of this Summer's massive outlay only Torres is able to demand a first-team spot whilst the 20 odd million lavished on Yossi, Babel and Lucas sees two of them not even making the bench tonight?

Rafa's stock at Anfield was never higher than the end of 2005-2006 in my view and he's going to have to perform some kind of miracle in the next 5 months to have the chance of returning to that level.

Well you haven't actually challenged any of the facts i've presented if they make no sense

You'd have sacked Shankly in the 70's and Ferguson in the late 80's because they didn't win trophies quickly enough.

                    He had the players.

Rafa won us the CL in his first full season and with a ****e team. Did Wenger win it yet ?

How do you feel about it, Les? As you know I never went tonight so I'm not sure what the general concensus is inside the ground.

Was the reaction at full time that bad? Did we play that poorly? Was the atmosphere that ****e?

Behave Fredo! If anything you spot A LOT more than you see via a 250KB stream on the internads.

I tell you what Howard, the boos were loud, very loud but the most worrying thing was the number of people after the final whistle who were hurling abuse at Rafa. I certainly don't condone that sort of sh!te but I think maybe Rafa is starting to lose some support from the stands. I would say though he still has a hardcore following who were chanting his name for long periods of the game.

Shades of Houllier circa summer 2002. Yikes.

Maybe that's a bit harsh, at least Aurelio can pass.

No you see, that's a straw-man argument you're throwing at me.

You're trying to put words into my mouth.

I said I'd rather follow the Arsenal method of not trying to outspend Chavski and SCUM to win the league.
Fredo said Wenger has had time.
I pointed out that Wenger earned that time with his instant success.

Look, the point bout Arsenal is that that is the example I want us to follow.
Expecting LFC to spend 300 million is not realistic and not what I expect from our supporters.

Quite strong, but I certainly don't expect booing from Reds. Now if I was a magpie

It could be worse and despite what everyone is saying, we aren't as bad as we were under Houllier.

For the simple reason that Rafa has won the CL as many times as that TRUE cunt ferguson, i'm willing to back him for a bit longer yet.

As long as he's our manager, as long as whoever is our manager, he'll have my backing.
