Well, as we are talking about a player on a long contract, a Spanish international, and someone who is wanted by some of the best sides in Europe, it's anybodys guess.Originally posted by CAD View PostHow much do people here think we could we get for Alonso in January?
But any less than £15m would be ridiculous. Personally I would want about £15m - £20m.Forwards.......

I hope it remains a hypothetical question since then I don't have to care about it at all..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

That's too much. I'd be happy with a lump of cheese and the promise of a kiss!Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostWell, as we are talking about a player on a long contract, a Spanish international, and someone who is wanted by some of the best sides in Europe, it's anybodys guess.

Sure but:Originally posted by CAD View PostThat's why we're here and it's all we can do
(a) It helps to create a consensus where one or the other is seen to be expendable - at least, it's not the unthinkable which frankly is how I'd prefer it to be.
(b) You may wish to do so but I can't see the point. Naturally I'm not calling into question your right to think and act otherwise.

This is what I was obtusely referring too also....Originally posted by Pippo View PostThere isn't an option for keeping both and selling Gerrard?!
Seriously though?
Francis.

And when I say 'play Gerrard on the left', I mean on the left
A defensive mid for £18m?

Fulham(a), Sunderland(h), Derby (h) free kicks all spring to mind. Agree Gerrard has more power, but how many dead balls do you see that are hit hard and accurately? Most are placed, and in this regard Xabi is not inferior to Gerrard from dead balls IMO.Originally posted by carheex View PostGerrard has scored a few from free kicks and also has power in his arsenal. Xabi has scored one that i can think of - 95% of his "efforts" end up scuffed into the knees of the defensive wall. I agree with you that Xabi was top class in his first season but so were dudek and sissoko and riise and oyvind leonhardsen. probably.
Of the players you've mentioned above who had great debut seasons, I'd say only Dudek attained the level that Alonso reached in his first season, ie looked a world beater.White liquid in a bottle = Milk
