I dont agree that G&H don't have a clue about how to handle the press - they already own other sport franchises, so they will know what these kind of comments will do to a team...

This is done deliberatly to unsettle Raffa and make his job close to impossible in the future. If he has unrest among the players, they are not going to perform 100%, which will give them a "legal" reason to fire Raffa, if he doesen't leave before himself. I think that they made these comments because the Klinsmann saga would have ended in the press otherwise after his denial of the LFC job offer.

I said it before in this thread: G&H just got the easiest ticket out of this mess when Klinsmann denied it, they could have simply backed it up and given support to Raffa. That they chose otherwise only shows that they are interested in having Raffa resign at best, or fire him at worst... Now we are going to see more and more articles and speculations because of this, and it sickens me the way they have done it...

****ing ******s - we really need to show all our support for Raffa, and let the yanks know that this way is far from okay. Perhaps some songs, banners etc. against the owners at the next match they attend, and untill then full support for Raffa!!

i predict both owners and supporters will give ground

It also means the team performs less well - bringing in less money. There may well be something in what you say but your analysis is too simplistic in my opinion.

If he meant the yanks are in lfc for a quick buck then i just disagree

if he heant the fact that they are undermining rafa is linked to that fact that theyre in lfc for a quick buck (which is what the content of his post implied) then I disagree strongly enough to call what he posted "bollocks"

now on that point you may well be right. if thats how they want to run things then thats how itll be....hence my answer to my own question of will there be a price to pay in terms of on-field performance

as i said - if hicks was after a quick (hundred and fifty million) buck. hed have sold to DIC without this farce

please can you explain to people how you see undermining rafa as likely to increase the future/current profitability of lfc or the value of its assets (ie torres!!)
I didn't say that. I said that their inflation of the value of the club is based upon what they perceive the extra value they've built into that by setting up the new stadium and increasing player staff.

Sacking rafa doesn't come into it. I think we've misunderstood each other somewhere along lthe line.

I didn't say that at all. Do keep up.

If they arent' into leverage why are they talking to DIC?

Sure there'll be a price mate. I think their only way to enforce what they want (due to fans supporting Rafa etc ...) was to let speculation mount until the team under performs and it would have been no way back for Rafa. I mean, the supporters are Rafa's greatest ally. Lose them and he's fooked.

The only way they can achieve that is to deliberately feed snippets off the press until:

                  1) He resigns (and they won't be paying off his contract)
                  2) Team under performs until supporters lose faith in Rafa
                  3) Bring on their man and build from there

News of negotiations with Klinsmann been fed off the press, they've been forced to come up with some comments in the press. It's similar to the Jol situation.

The thing which could save us though, and by that I mean could drive them off here, is the fact that they won't be able to refinance their plans and that they would be forced to sell up in a cut price deal.

well - if youd said that then id agree. i think they have added value to lfc since they took over.

did you mean it as a criticism? I think its a good thing and i dont think they want to sell quickly at all.....well see

my take would be prudent refinancing in a financial climate which has altered since the takeover.

I think if they wanted to make a quick buck there, they could have

I can't understand why G&H are making such a concerted effort to undermine and be rid of Rafa if they are looking to offload the club!? Sureley, if they are activeley seeking a sell on, they would leave that to the buying party. Anyone know what DIC might want to do if they are in ownership?

This whole situation is pretty poor by any club's standards, and a real bombshell for our club. This sort of thing should not be all over the news. Where the **** do we go from here?!

I hope that the yanks have a nice armoured vehicle for their next visit to Anfield, I get the feeling they really will need it!

Sure, clubs often have back-up plans in place should a manager leave/be pushed, but when have you ever heard a chairman discuss it IN THE PRESS when the present manager is still in the job? It beggars belief.

This is the kind of car-crash that happens at clubs like Spurs, Villa and Newcastle. It's a hugely embarrassing circus now. No doubt the media find this completely
