I agree. LFC is now a business whether we like it or not. If you are runnning a business you don't sack someone without having a plan in place on who to replace them with. Even Newcastle seem to have thought of that, just that Harry Redknapp changed his mind.

The problem was that Hicks then decided to shout it from the rooftops, together with his instant rebuttal of any criticism of the business side of things and silence on Rafa's position.

      That's a different debate mate.

I'm saying owners talking to potential replacements as contingency, or even with actual intention of replacing the manager, is perfectly normal.

And no, this doesnt mean i advocate Klinsmann.
True, so he can cut his teeth somewhere else and prove he is fit to replace Rafa. I don't want anyone cutting their teeth with us. It is only ever acceptable appointing someone with no managerial expeirence if it's an appointment from within. Never otherwise.

Why not just sound them out then? That can be done without having to meet them.

Thing is, what's the likelihood that DIC would offer him a healthy profit on his investment? Why would they? If they were to do that then why didn't they gazump G&H's first bid for the club last year?

I prefer the idea, but think I'd want to see their proposal
The potential appeal to me is that they'll stay in the background and let the people who know how to run the football side of things, especially Rafa, get on with the job without undermining him at every turn.

The financials will take care of themselves. They're not going to invest a fortune into an asset and then allow it to wither and die.

Perhaps it is normal mate, but in these circumstances it is not. Was Rafa doing a bad job then like Houllier was? Was there any real prosepct he would go of his own accord? Both answers are no IMO. Therefore there were no good reasons existing at the time to court another manager, IMO. If there was a breakdown of communication wth Rafa, if there was disagreements, they should tried opening up the communication lines and resolve the problems, not jump into bed with the next blonde bimbo that batted an eye-lid at them (no offence Klinsmann).

still really dont want to get my hopes up. all the reports i read about DIC at the time when they were interested originally said that they achieved excellence through excellence. i.e they spend to gain.

we really arent that far away from being the best again but it will not happen with the wanks at the helm. it is still only mid january so if this does happen, and it happens very soon, there is still time for this season
                      in january we were doomed.

in august we will rise from the ashes of ****e and march on again

                          The stadium thing is sorted?
                          That's worth a few bob.

To be honest, I don't know, mate.

                          I am just hoping here...

This whole thread/situation is weird. Business decisions involving hundreds of millions of pounds are not done on the basis of opinion on internet football forums.

Owners of these businesses only sell up if it is in their financial interests. Forums, crowd banners and songs in a completely different country won't affect that.

I don't believe the press, when a very small bit of info is leaked like this. I will be amazed if any of this is true. It makes no sense.

                            I hope I am wrong.

Maybe this is just clever PR by Hicks and DIC.
Hicks wants to sell...But look like he is doing the right thing...So he come out with the Jurgen as next manager quotes...He uses Fan pressure as a reason to sell and makes a tasty profit from sellin to DIC.

                                Pride.

We "forgot" to inform them about a board meeting discussing the bid from G&H. We had promised to keep them informed if the board would discuss any rival bid(s).
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.
