It's not just in their country, muslims are prohibited from drinking alcohol, buying it, selling it, promoting it, technically even from frequenting alcohol-serving establishments...it's a big no-no.

As for carlsberg and a new deal, i believe they did.

If the arabs buy the club, they'll no doubt pay off carlsberg.

I would hope that Carlsberg would be paid off, not because of the whole getting pissed thing, bbut because we are able to demonstrate a degree of increased marketability that would inspire a major company to part with a **** load of additional cash to sponsor the team.

Dubai is not a strict muslim country and does sell alcohol to the tourists

so they wouldnt have a problem with Carlsberg IMO, they are however more likely to buy them out to sponsor us with one of their own brands (eg Travelodge) which would open up shirt sales into the stricter muslim states in the middle and far east
Lawrenson:"Well thats 3 good chances they have had in the first 3 minutes of this half"

Motson:"" Yes Mark, you could almost say that they have had 3 chances in as many minutes"

Lawrenson: Errr I thought I just did say that, John"

i'd fully expect some kind of "visit dubai" type sponsor- IF DIC want to promote Dubai rather than make huge revenue from some other new non alcohol sponsor
            thanks for clearing that up

**** me though no pints at the weekend or a midweek game ....... would be tough that

He'll have to secure the debt on the club's assets.
Moores has a verbal agreement that they won't do that as part of the takeover. A verbal contract is as powerful (or not) as a written one.
Gillett could go wither way, but if Gillett backs Moores then Hicks won't be able to secure the loan on the clubs assets. If this happens they'll have to use personal assets to secure the loan.

And all the time this huge offer waits in the background from DIC....

They'll sell up, just a question of when

              Ok, Ok WHEN

Just my reading on the situation. I imagine as the deadline approaches for the loan. If the fans turn up the heat it could be sooner.

I'm not sure they'd go that far mate. As iceman correctly states, dubai isnt as strict as it might be, so they'd probably not actually go to extreme lengths on it.

Makes good sense and it's the most sensible post on this thread for a while if you ask me

As I wrote earlier my guess is that Hicks is ready to secure loans against the club and Gillett isn't. There is no agreement about whether they can or can't. Only a word given in a world in constant change. Hicks is an gunslinger and Gillett a man of his word (I guess).

DIC? **** knows? They would pay 500mill for something they priced at 230 a year ago? If it sound to good to be true...it usually is...(I guess).

Given Rafa credit for setting DIC up? Far fetched? At the very least. Utter bollocks, yes.

I'd say Rafa made the Americans uneasy though, wouldn't you?

Just been some news on Al-jazeera news channel and they are reporting that Hicks himself is the one who invited DIC to make this bid which sounds very strange
                              Reece, get off my wife.:whatever:
