Yeah, I pretty much agree with that.

While I think his transfer dealings on the whole stand up to scrutiny I do think he should have prioritised other positions, namely wide, both full back and on the wings.

i wouldn't give rafa a single penny until he trimmed the squad, and even then insist that he doesn't even dare look at another central midfielder.

he's spent a fortune and our areas of weakness are still the same as under houllier - full backs, wingers and one striker short.

Same for wing/wide positions if we'd had the money for top quality wingers we wouldn't have signed the likes of Pennant, Zenden, Gonzalez etc
aye, I think I said that before, cant remember now.

I just dont think the owners or potential owners will splash the cash for him

As much as it pains me to say it, and make no mistake, I would lose all sense of reason if I ever bumped into him and kill the cunt, Fergie is by far and away the best manager in the world.

He's a ****ing cunt of astronomical proportions though.

I think Wenger is a better manager. That man is a genius. I've thought the same since 2004. For what he has spent, to get that sustained success, and get them playing the way he does, you cannot help but admire the whinging ****.

One top class striker, easily £20m+.

So very are talking about £65m-£80m+ that Rafa need to spend. I would myself give Insua a chance next season, £15m saved.

Then we are down to the £50m I'm talking about.

Carson £10m, Riise £5m, Kuyt £5m, Voronin free, Kewell free, Crouch £10m, Alonso £15m, Aurelio free, Pennant £5m are the players I would sell off. The figures are probably what we would get for them.

All this of course depends on that Rafa stays.

So Rafa would more or less not need to spend anything at all if he get all the money from the players he sells off. The extra £50m is if he want to sign one or two extra special players if he want to. Say for example that Aguero suddenly becomes available then Rafa should be able to challenge for him in the transfer market without it affecting his transfer kitty.

              Aguero is an example.
Riise & Crouch are entering the final 12 months of their contracts

Not a hope in hell anyone would pay £5 million for Riise and £10 million on Crouch

Net is what you should look at, not how much in total all the players he has signed costs. You must include the money he get from the players he sell off.

That is for example the one thing that makes Wenger great in the transfer market. If you only look at how much money Wenger have spent then he has probably spent at least as much as us during his time at Arsenal but he has sold off some players at a very good price.

Now to answer your question I think Rafa should get at least £50m net/season the next two seasons until our youngsters are ready then he won't need to spend as much as he need to do the next two years.

So Rafa have almost been backed this season but there is no chance that he will get £37m net next season if G&H stays.

He should also get the money from the players he sells off. Our owners will get that money back when the new stadium is finished if we can get rid off our debts against the club. The debts against the club for the stadium won't be a problem if we can get rid of the debt against the club that we have now.

AF in fairness this is a daft statement. we finished 3rd last year and got to the CL final. Spending 74 million quid on the team is a huge amount of money on a par with what Jose was spending in a season at Chelsea. For that spend we should not be struggling for a CL spot. Do you think if Rafa gets another 74 million this summer we will be any better off?

Maybe not better, very different, but possibly equally as good. That scottish ****s record speaks for itself though. I'll say it again, cunt.

I would say that Ferguson was a good manager, I think the mancs are so successful because of what he did in the earlier years and since then they have always had alot of experienced players that have been challenging for titles etc. However I don't think Ferguson has a great record in the transfer market, he's not really taken too many risks on players because they've had the money to buy big players that had already made it in premiership or at other big clubs Rooney, Ferdinand, Carrick, Hargreaves etc

Wenger has taken players no one had heard of and made them world class Anelka, Viera, Fabragas etc and that's why he's a better manager than Ferguson IMO
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

What has he won though? That's the acid test. Fergie's teams are a unit and are untoucheable in their minds, that's what has bred the success.

                        Fair point

I just think that if you are able to buy the best players and stick them in a team that's a significant part of the job done.

I guess he's also got the best out of some average players Wes Brown, Phil Neville, John O'Shea etc which is fair enough

I guess it just goes against the grain to talk about the mancs like this

The main problem is when a genuine insider does post, no one has a clue whether to belive them or not because of all the idiots pretending to know what's going on.

At the current rate, where at least one person is saying that DIC will be owners "within a few days" someoe is bound to be right eventually, and claim to be an insider for ever.

That is of course if DIC actually do bid for the club. And then of course if they are successfull.

                              I'd settle for that.

Not that I've got a choice anyhow like!

Yeah I see your point, but it can get frustrating at times. I suppose we should be grateful for the trusted people on the inside that do post snippets of info
