Yes the one they just took out. If he was going to pay for it why wait this long and put the club through this turmoil.
Nah. He won't win the Prem. You can quote me on that. - Sarb24

I posted on the strength of the intro where the journo didn't mention the 15%

Made me look a bit well.................daft.

Reasonably positive can't think why he wants out of the tabloids and blogs tho'

Its not really what he said but rather what the presenters said after the interview with himhad finished:

          - they met with DIC this last friday to negotiate
          - him and gillett have fallen out over this as Gillett favours a DIC investment
          - Hicks is a liar and has told lies before and is not to be trusted
          - DIC are still very keen to get involved with Liverpool
          - the deal they took out recently is a short term deal and not sustainable in the long term

The presenters said that they believed that the DIC takeover of liverpool story still had some time to run yet.

Sorry mate, that is how every player is paid for. It's business. You don't pay cash for something you can borrow for cheap. Their money makes more money than the banks charge, so they borrow at 6% interest as their money is making 15% somewhere else. Totally warranted, and absolutely normal in business.

Kinhell - I was roundly ripped on this site a few months back when I questioned that price tag and said I wouldn't pay it (personally). Now I have the backing of the men from the San Siro !!!

Sorry - back to the thread.....

His response to why he wants to own LFC was feeble. Basically boiled down to $$ (as if we didnt know that). He specifically mentioned the TV and Internet rights. He also made a comment about wanting to get out of the tabloid headlines and the Blogs-obviously he has been lurking on EST!. Another interesting comment was that Rafa has never been refused $ for any player he's asked for-bull****. Contradicts his 'Rafa should concentrate on the players he's got' comment A very unconvincing performance. He should have been asked why Gillette is not talking.

£17M is a lot for a DM, but class is expensive. If Momo is worth £10M Mascher worth at least £15M.

I've thought it high also, but then who else of his caliber is out there to be bought, and how much would that person cost?

Seemed to be an ok deal.

What happens next is several pages of posts "proving" that he never said that Rafa has his backing, and that he can't have 17 mil for Masher.

                            Should be fun

I really rate Mascherano and I would absolutely love to sign him permanently. However, admittedly 17 million is alot of money for a defensive midfielder. One thing I would say, given Momo's just been sold for 10 million, Hargreaves/ Carrick cost about 18 million then maybe Mascherano's valuation is within the current market range.

Two key points in the interview an neither of them were what Hicks said.

                                1) He told the BBC that he wouldn't talk about the finance deal before the inerview started according the the shows host. Why?

                                2) When asked if he could see himself here in 5 years he reacted with a nervous cough and then...'yeah, ofcourse'

I wasn't convinced by what he had to say today.
