the real problem Neil is that the game has been taken from us in so many ways, yet we're somehow expected to still behave like the loyal fan.
you know, i downloaded the first episode of brookie the other day for nostalgia's sake. damon and bobby grant were debating "are you going to anfield later dad", "dunno son probably i'll see how i feel, are you"
can you even imagine such a conversation between a 15 yo lad and his father today in an ordinary household.
first of all, you wouldn't get in on an impulse these days.
secondly, how would the 15yo lad get £36 entrance fee - he wouldn't.
that in itself is an example of how the game has become divorced from us. i don't boo myself, and i don't really like hearing it because you can't shake off old values, but i'm not too romantic to understand that we're the only ones these days expected to be loyal while everyone coins it in at our expense in a game where even mediocrity makes you a millionaire.

- his name is John!
Finally, we HAVE a squad to win the championship (well, it's not the best, but ...) and we **** it up in the middle of the season. Absolute nightmare!
