Some people here need to get a grip. SG can't pull us through every poor performance. One man doesn't make a team. The guy is a born winner and stated he wanted to win things and that is the reason why he considered a move to Chelsea, twice. I hated him for it from a Liverpool supporters point of view.

But look at it from a footballers point of view. He isn't in for the money, he wants to win. When Rafa came in he wasn't sure he wanted to go through another rebuilding stage like in the GH years. He was always going to be connected to other teams. Owen had to make the same choices and decided to **** off. 12 months later after a ****ing poor season (and don't let winning the CL cloud your judgement) the same question came up again.

So go on lads, have a go at the guy because he can't play for 11 men EVERY GAME and then have a go at him because 'in the end' he couldn't leave where is heart is. Would you be a bit ****ed off if you wanted the Holy Grail but didn't have the right tools to make it happen despite, in some cases, them sitting on the bench?

Drop him and give the armband to Carra, oh no, we can't do that either because we already have had the 'Carra is overated' thread.

Seriously, this place gives me the ****s sometimes. Face facts, all 11 players were crap and have been for a while. Maybe it is the issues with the board. But than SG can't use that as an excuse either can he? People here moan when SG doesn't speak out and then say he is making excuses when he does????

        Rant Over.

i spoke to a west ham sth yesterday who went to the game and after the initial bating said that gerrard was head and shoulders the best man on the pitch.

i said i was supprised at it didnt look that way (to me anyway) from the match i saw on football first but he was adament.

he also said that torres looked different gravey, saying the last time he was that impressed by skill was when he saw scums ronaldo there.

Don't let the truth get in the way of fans having a dig.

If Gerrard doesn't make a 50 yard run, beat 12 men (that includes going back and beating one twice before you ask) and then lay it off to Torres who scores a 346 yard screamer they are both ****e.

God knows how ****e we were against West Ham but targeting one player isn't the way forwards. It takes a team to make a performance.

I was at the game as well and I can only suggest that your mate was watching a different game to me. Besides, it would have been no great achievement to be head and shoulders above that lot on Wed.

A lot of people credit Gerrard for that turnaround, but apart from scoring the first goal doing a bit of arm waving, what exactly did he do?

An absolutely barnstorming performance at right-back to counter the very real threat of Serginho?

I'll give you that, but we were already back in the game by that stage.

I'm just not sure to what extent he inspired the comeback, apart from getting the first goal.

If you ask me, the impact of Smicer's second, being so soon after the first, was in itself more significant and had more of an impact

Im not sure how he inspired us against Olympiakos either. Apart from scoring the winning goal.

Of all the ****ty threads that have ever been started this must be in the top three

regardless of how SG is playing at the moment i will always think 3 things about him:

                              1. he's not a central midfielder even though he's convinced he is.

                              2. he's a moody and slightly fragile psychologically and is poor captain material. not that i really think the role of captain is that important anyway.

                              3. he's a problem that rafa would prefer not have but i actually think that one of the reasons that rafa wanted dani alves was to provide cover for SG playing on the right. he ends up with pennant because we ****ed up and is stuck with moving gerrard around a bit or sticking him in a CM role to which he just ain't suited. freedom to roam or on the right wing is where SG needs to be.
