Thanjk you.

on the basis he's too **** to entice any clubs to make an offer for his services as a footballer how about some alternative ways to make some money out of the useless ****?
1) scarecrow? not sure what the going rate is for a human bird scarer but those farmers aren't short of a bob or two.
2) main attraction to a travelling fairgrounds house of horrors?
3) trolley dolly @ tesco?
4) a warning to the young kids not to 'pull that face' with the wind blowing?
5) offer him to hollywood in case they're thinking of a goonies remake?
Has no one realised that Dirks been crap ever since his Dad died? I'm sure that's the reason it's obviously affected him a lot so I think that's the reason, I'm surprised nobody has picked up on this?

Without wishing to be insensitive, i very much doubt every other good footballer in the world has never experienced the passing of a parent, so whilst it's a horrible thing to have happen to you, it's no excuse for being permanently rubbish.

"Even men with steel hearts love to see a dog on the pitch". It generates a warmth around the ground that augurs well for mankind and that's what life's about. Trouble is these days you never see a dog on the pitch".

dont take this the wrong way mate, not trying to be insensitive, but when a ball comes over, you either control it and bang it in the top corner or you dont.
I dont for one second buy this theory that as the ball is coming over he is thinking "dad, i miss you, **** the balls gone again"

Well put and very correct. Syd made the point too.

sorry but some people are deeply deeply affected by the loss of someone so close. lots of people react differently some are driven to depression, suicide........the fact is he was one of the players of the season last year as voted by the fans, since his dad died he has been ****, really ****.......the old man watched him week in, week out and gave him strength, maybe he just isnt enjoying football anymore.....although thats not surprising the way he is playing!!!

I think the point is though that there is nothing we can do to alter that even if we knew that was the reason he wasn't performing. He deserves our sympathy for his loss and has most fans respect for his hard work and attitude but that doesn't mean he should be in the team or even in the squad.
Whatever the cause of his seeming complete lack of confidence I think he needed a rest and have advocated giving him one for a while. The question about whether he is good enough long term only really has one answer unless he were to come back with his form restored to at least the best we saw from him last season.

I didnt say they dont react differently. But even if you are on the verge of swinging from the trees mate, when a ball is played in to you, you either have the ability to control it and do summat with it or you dont.
Are you SERIOUSLY suggesting that when a ball is played into him the reason it bounces 4 feet up in the air after his "touch" is because he can see images of his dads face on the ball and is wary about kicking him in the teeth?
Fella, he is playing **** for 3 reasons.
1 - He is out of confidence due to playing so **** for so long.
2 - He is being played in the beardsley/dalglish/litmanen role instead of in and around the 6 yard box where he plundered most of his goals in the piss-poor dutch league.
3 - He has one ridiculously stupid haircut. If his head didnt look like a mound of blood stained tampon strings then he might get a bit more patience.
Dirk, whatever you may or may not be getting told to do, ignore it, stand in the penalty area and when the ball comes to you, kick it at the goal please. Thanks mate.
Three league goals all season, two of which were pens and the other he knew nothing about, and horrible, horrible form throughout - and it's a disgrace he's not in the national squad?
Or have I been whooshed?

Although I still think he is just saying that the death of his father adds to and may have contributed to the origin of the lack of confidence you talk about.
